Paternity tests don't cost that much.
The problem comes when the couple were in an apparently loving relationship.
If husbands require wives to have paternity tests for all children, it will have a very harmful effect on the good relationships, IMO.

It only requires samples from baby and alleged dad. The results would only be an issue if dad wasn't dad, in which case there would be larger issues to deal with.

It would only have a harmful effect if the woman was cheating and lying to boot. I wouldn't call that relationship "good" at all. However, faithful wives would have nothing to worry about, whether it was required or not. It could also work in her favor if the relationship turned sour and she had to prove paternity for child support.
It's a two-edged sword.

Only if they FAIL the paternity test.
And if they FAIL, then how good a relationship was it anyway?
