As a NYC JHS teacher I can validate most of this article. We moved to Long Island precisely so our daughter would not have to go to a NYC JHS. Interestingly I believe she would have received a better education in the Jr High I teach in, but there was no way she would have found herself in the hallways and stairwells of that school. It's not just how the boys treat the girls, it's how the girls allow themselves to be treated.

The inner city culture defined by hip hop music and videos has created a mutual degradation of young males and females in our schools. Sadly this has also passed into suburban school systems through the mediunm of MTV. Even though I pay 4 grand in school taxes, my wife and I opted to send our daughter to Catholic HS because the infection of this culture of degfradation has moved into the public schools here as well.

Does it really mater if it is about morality and sex? That camp seeks to water down the conventions of interpersonal relations. Really people are just too uptignt about sex. Once the public looses it bonds of taboo, they will be set free.(Devil's advocate mode /off)
