The sea level at the height of the last ice age was about 380 feet lower than today.
Then, the land bridges between continents were broad and high. All the British Isles were part of contiguous Europe. The Alaska-Siberia bridge was hundreds of miles wide, not a narrow straight.
The Atlantic coast of America was a hundred miles into what is now the ocean.
So, it is no wonder at all that Sri Lanka was joined with India at that time. Quite natural.
