Letter Exposes Strategy Against Ten Commandments Judge

Opponents of Alabama's top judge have revealed — unintentionally — their true feelings about the man determined to honor the Ten Commandments in a government building.

A lawyer's letter sent to the wrong person reveals bitter religious intolerance by those opposing Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore. The chief justice of the state's highest court is being sued for placing a Ten Commandments monument in the Supreme Court building.

The letter was written by Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which opposes the Ten Commandments display. But a copy was mailed to Judge Roy Moore's attorney — apparently by mistake. The letter describes Moore as a "bigot" and "a lone religious nut."

"They recognize that Chief Justice Moore is right on target — that his theory of the case is tremendously threatening to them," said Stephen Melchior, Moore's attorney.

The letter also implies District Judge Myron Thompson may have already made up his mind about the case even before hearing arguments in the case.

"The letter raises an appearance of impropriety," Melchior added.

Melchior on Tuesday filed a motion for Thompson to be removed from the case. The letter also says Moore is working "in partnership with a fanatical church" — a reference to Dr. D. James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Ministries in Florida.

"It's a display of blatant religious bigotry," said John Aman, with Coral Ridge Ministries. He said it's ironic, coming from the Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that purports to fight intolerance.

"And here in this letter he's acknowledging that he's going to use intolerance as a tactic to further his cause," Aman said.

Melchior explained the case is about more than a monument.

"You see, if the source of our fundamental rights is not God, then the source becomes man, or more precisely a government of men."

When asked for an interview, Dees responded simply, "No comment."

Arguments in the case are scheduled for Oct. 15. Melchior said he's ready to go to trial, but doesn't know what course of action he'll take if Judge Thompson does not recuse himself.

The plaintiffs in the case are represented by the ACLU and Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

Interesting developments on the attacks against Judge Moore. And interesting that the personal attacks, which many here believe to have existed, are now confirmed. I do not doubt this letter will be great evidence against the Plaintiffs, as it exposes motive. I do agree, most especially, with the following statement:

"You see, if the source of our fundamental rights is not God, then the source becomes man, or more precisely a government of men."

Just more of the soft-core fascism typical of the liars and haters on the Left. They sure do hate it when their spiral-eyed hatred, bigotry and fanaticism gets some public exposure.

So hey, Mr. Dees - why so silent all of a sudden?

I can't say that I've ever heard much of anything good about Morris Dees and the Southern Poverty Law Center, so these tactics don't really come as a surprise.

Add to that the ACLU. If these groups are behind your cause, then make the assumption their intent is to TAKE AWAY liberties.

"You see, if the source of our fundamental rights is not God, then the source becomes man, or more precisely a government of men."

IMHO>> That is the crux of today's Democrat Party.

Somewhere along the mid 60's, the Democrat Party was infiltrated with people that became leaders of the party that had as their core belief Man giveth and Man taketh away.

The ban on Creationism, the SC decision on 'Separation of Church and State', the 'Festival of Lights' instead of Christmas. Just a few examples of this disease.

The rank and file democrat is blind to the ultimate outcome of this line of thinking. They don't see the connection between these individual battles and the war.
This lack of reasoning is manifested today in their opposition of the removal of the Iraq leadership. They can't make the connection between acts terrorism and the sponsors.

If you look closely, you find they can't connect the dots on ANY problem.

We are being destroyed one drip at a time.

Apparently, the SPLC is dedicated to the cultural destruction of white heterosexual Christians. They target this demographic to remove resistance to their communistic agenda.

Unpopular words but true. IMHO
