How about that Judge Neo-politico doing the Fox News Alert?
To: ladtx
Never happen around my house. I wear the pants in my family. Because Mrs. ladtx says I can. My wife and I have an agreement. I make all the important decisions and she makes all the unimportant ones.
After 20 years we have yet to fact an important decision.

Why doesnt he just RESIGN? Torricelli must have threatened to spill the dirt on Clinton et al if they forced him the resign. That's why they are going through these shenanigans.
To: RoseofTexas
This is a replay of election2000, same outcome, move along, nothing to see here.

Sort of "on the fly," as it were!

I wish I was sure about that. Remember Dale v. BSA? They went unanimous for Mr. Dale, and had to be reversed by SCOTUS.

I doubt this will go to SCOTUS, no matter how clear it is that the NJ law prohibits this. This has to do with NJ election laws, not federal. In FL, there was an issue of uniform vote counting standards and changing the rules after the election, which are federal issues.

I hope you're keeping your balance up there.

But where is the unequal protection? All voters will get to vote for Candidate X vs. Forrester, as opposed to Torricelli vs. Forrester.
I'm no lawyer, but Levin's take on this makes a lot of sense, like it or not.
To: lasereye
So in other words WE'RE SCREWED...RIGHT? BUMMER :(
To: Alberta's Child
The Clinton machine will want some dead bodies over this. If I were in the NJ State Police, I would start by protecting Pallone and his wife, Torricelli(just so he's alive to go to jail), Chang's family, and the Atlantic City Dog Catcher who will be next to run, only to decline later after a strongly worded phone call from Lassie.

I understand absentee ballots have already gone out with Torricelli's name on them. I wonder if McGreevy will decide that any ballots marked with Torricelli should be counted for the eventual Democrat candidate.

How does Lautenberg stack up against Forrester? I heard that Forrester was 10-20 points ahead of Torch, how about this new race? Anyone know?
To: ambrose
Sounds like a bait & switch to me, Lautenberg, is 78 and will challenging Strom by the time his term ends.

Interesting rule .... probably more true than you know :)
To: Dog
You're gonna trust the Dumocraps on the NJSC to "do the right thing"?
This will go to the Supremes....just watch.
To: TheBigB
Could it be that nobody with an ounce of political common sense wants to get dirty campaigning in the ashes left behind by "The Torch"? I think so. Look for a total back-bencher to emerge.
Smart NJ democrats will take a pass on getting into this electoral morass, and the national democrat party needs to get this behind them or it will continue to detract from their old fashioned "kitchen table", anti-war, race-baiting, senior-threatening, neo-enviornmental rhetoric.
To: TheBigB
probably they'll toss Forrester's name up next
