I doubt this will go to SCOTUS, no matter how clear it is that the NJ law prohibits this. This has to do with NJ election laws, not federal. In FL, there was an issue of uniform vote counting standards and changing the rules after the election, which are federal issues.

If I were in the NJ State Police, I would start by protecting Pallone and his wife, Torricelli(just so he's alive to go to jail), Chang's family, and the Atlantic City Dog Catcher who will be next to run, only to decline later after a strongly worded phone call from Lassie.

Could it be that nobody with an ounce of political common sense wants to get dirty campaigning in the ashes left behind by "The Torch"? I think so. Look for a total back-bencher to emerge.

Smart NJ democrats will take a pass on getting into this electoral morass, and the national democrat party needs to get this behind them or it will continue to detract from their old fashioned "kitchen table", anti-war, race-baiting, senior-threatening, neo-enviornmental rhetoric.
