I don't quite know about American hero. After his death in an interview with a paper/magazine? he worked for in his early days in the New England area one of his former co-workers said something to the effect that Mr. Pearl did not agree with alot of american policies and government. I sometimes wonder if there is not something more to his story we don't know about. Yes he died a horrible death but something just is odd about the entire affair.

Well, ok elaborate about what strikes you as odd about it...V's wife.

Well first the interview by his former coworker wasn't very flattering. Second, didn't he have his pregnant wife with him. It seems odd a guy would take his pregnant wife into such a dangerous area, unless he thought because of his sympathies that he and his wife would not be targets. Also maybe he knew something and was killed as a warning to any other reporters as to what happens when you get close to the truth. Reads like a really bad novel. For all anyone knows could have just been exactly what anyone wants to think he was.

This story may very well be true; but the first thing that comes to mind is that someone is attempting to undermine the cooperation between the US and Qatar to stop the attack on Iraq. Sounds like they want to cause enough of a rift to get rid of the bases.
