The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us tomorrow as we peacefully counter-protest anti-capitalist demonstrators in Washington, D.C.
We will gather at the corner of 15th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. That is about one block from the site of their noon rally at the Washington Monument. After 1 p.m. we will fan out along their parade route.
Our demonstration is in favor of capitalism, private property rights and the United States of America. We will not be demonstrating in favor of the World Bank and IMF.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
Please bring American flags, signs and a sense of humor.

GO DC Chapter GO!!

I love it when a plan comes together, too. I have only watched a little bit of local news this AM, but have the feeling they don't have the numbers they hoped for. What are you seeing downtown, Kristinn?

You all be careful, although the Fox & Friends people couldn't stop laughing at them.
And from what I saw, bandanas are required.

Things are quiet in my neighborhood.
About one hundred have been arrested so far according to news reports. For now, their attempts to shut down the city are failing miserably.
There are still trouble spots around downtown, but they are more like brushfires than riots.

All clear from Farragut West at 18th and I to my corner at Connecticut and L -- so far. There are very few cars on the streets or people for that matter. Springfield-Franconia Metro Station was pretty empty and the car I sat in on the way to DC was half full.
I saw 4 empty busses being escorted by police cars front and back north on 18th Street on their way towards Dupont Circle -- I heard that there were a number of protesters gathered there.
Someone on the elevator told me that there were several busloads of protesters carted off earlier and a radio news report stated that about 20 protesters had chained themselves together in an intersection (couldn't hear which one) and were trying to disrupt traffic.
I'll take a stoll at lunchtime around the World Bank and report back on what is happening. The protesters built a rendition of the Trojan Horse in someone's backyard in Takoma Park earlier this week and it was supposed to be delivered to the front of the World Bank.

Thanks for the update. Maybe these anti-capitalists are just sunshine demonstrators. Of course, the day is just getting started. I did hear that those arrested will not be back on the street today.

Hello Howlin. Wish you could be with us tomorrow.

Fox News reported earlier about the arrests
There were a few nit wits screaming in the back ground sounding like complete morons
Good luck today and thanks for the update reports ..

Brian Wilson is reporting from 15th & K just now .. he said earlier the Protestors were heading down to the World Bank but had taken a wrong turn and when they realized what they had done they then turned around but were met by police
He said that was when one of the protectors threw a rock into a window and another one threw some kind of smoke bomb .. about 60 of the hard core protestors were arrested
Sounds like an interesting day

I saw a live report by Fox. They didn't ensure that the anarchists were far enough away from the remote, and it ended up with some punk cursing out the reporter while he tried to give his report. The kid was screaming "they arrested us BEFORE we threw any rocks through windows! We did it because they were doing it!"
Punks.
