Zell Miller is a Democrat. Are you saying that he would get a rating of a 75 or better from the ACU?

Trent Lott's ACU ratings the last four years are 100, 100, 96 (voted for NEA funding), and 92. That means, out of the 100 votes he cast, 97 of those were rated as the "right" vote by the American Conservative Union. Ted Kennedy's last four ACU ratings are 2, 4, 12 and 0. That means he has voted on the wrong side of 96 of the last 100 votes as measured by the ACU.

And I am supposed to sit back and let the jackoffs here say that Lott is not conservative, that there is no difference between he and Ted Kennedy?

No can do. The morons and outright frauds around here need to be exposed.

There must be some confusion...I agree with you. I don't like the "RINO Screaming Chicken Littles" either...

Sorry folks....Carnahan will probably win. I think the widow thing sways a lot of folks and Carnahan plays both sides: she addressed the "Emily's List" pro-abortion group and she shoots a shotgun for the cameras.

Article 1, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution states:

No person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the age of thirty years, and been nine years a citizen of the United States and who shall not, when elected, be an inhabitant of that state for which he shall be chosen.

Note the words "when elected".

Mel Carnahan was not an inhabitant of Missouri at the time of the election, and so therefore was ineligible to be elected for the U.S. Senate seat. His votes should have been null and void.

(I just got around to reading your post this morning, sorry for the delay in response.)

Yes I am familiar with what Article 1 Section 3 states. However the statute that was opperative was narrowly written to address a specfic problem within a specific time frame.
Had there been a court challenge better than even odds that the election results would have been upheld. Much the same arguments that the Pubbies are using in the Torricille matter would have been used here with far better results. Lack of time to change ballots, etc. And there is a bit of precedent for the widow of a deceased Senator to be appointed to take the place of her husband, Margret Chase Smith of Maine comes to mind.
If the Pubbies had tried to block the widders seating in the Senate the popular press would have had a field day beating up on the Pubbies. With the Florida mess going on at the same time it is MHO that the pubbies put all the effort in winning the Presidental election and basically let Ashcroft fend for himself.

I do agree that it was the best choice just to let the matter ride, but there is clearly questions about whether or not a deceased man could legally win an election when a deceased man is clearly not eligible for the seat. (For example, if Fidel Castro won the election for President, would his votes be counted even though he does not meet the requirements for President, having been born outside the U.S.?)

The New Jersey case, however, even fails the questionable status. A candidate withdrawing due to a worsening reputation does not provide grounds for his party, who duly nominated him, to provide another candidate. The voters of New Jersey should have a choice for the Democratic party this fall, and that choice should be Robert Torricelli, the man they nominated for the seat during the Primary.

Well, since Carnahan is not doing well, they'll probably take her out and put in someone else they think will do better. She got in through voter fraud, so I'm sure they have many other fraudulent contingency plans.

...the Fraud has already been bought and paid for...

Yep! You've got that right. The Rats' motto of "Vote early and often" continues.
