On August 3rd, 2002 at 11 a.m. while Dr. Aydin Beyatli member of the Executive Council of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, along with three professors from Turkey where visiting the Turkmen Cultural Center in Erbil, over a hundred Peshmergas from the KDP Sulaimanieh Division attacked the building with machines guns, under the pretext of arresting a Turkmen citizen who took refuge in the building.

The attack caused fear and panic among the women and children who were in the building. With the arrival of the Turkmen Defence Militias, the incident was prevented from getting worse.

The ITF officials protested this attack which clearly aimed at terrorizing the Turkmen population of Erbil and in particularly the visitors from Turkey.

The next day hundreds of Erbilian Turkmens gathered in the building to protest the incident and to show their determination to defend Turkmen rights in their own city, Erbil.

What? So there are more groups then the PKK?

How many Kurd terrorist groups ARE there?

Also, I have no doubt that they will be "wiped out"!

>>What? So there are more groups then the PKK?

There are the PKK, PUK, and the KDP. So far the PKK was the only one using terror. The USA has been encouraging the Kurds to rise against Saddam, but what's happening is that one of the groups leaders, Barzani of the the KDP is taking this a chance to set up his own little feudal kingdom. There are millions of Turkmens in his way, however, he's sure they won't be happy under his rule.

>>How many Kurd terrorist groups ARE there?

So far just the PKK, but here the KDP is seen as using terror tactics.

Peshmergas are Kurdish guerillas. The name literally means "facing death."

I see. Well, most people wind up miserable when they live in some fuedal land ruled by a despot.

I read your response about the Kurds under the Iraqi deisal import thread and I thought that you made your point perfectly. It is one thing to want "Diversity," and another to try to subvert the country you are living in.

If they want to live in Turkey, then they are Turks first. The USA will not let any minorities split the country up(Although the left is trying.) so I dont see why the Republic of Turkey should either.
