WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A 15-count, $1 trillion lawsuit was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by more than 500 relatives of people who died in the September 11 attacks.
Calling themselves Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism, they are suing seven international banks; eight Islamic foundations, charities and their subsidiaries; individual terrorist financiers; the Saudi bin Laden Group; three Saudi princes; and the government of Sudan for allegedly bankrolling al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden and the Taliban.

If memory serves, if they win, and they don't pay. Then the families can go to the US GOVERENMENT and seek the money.
In short, if they win, the US taxpayer may be stuck with the bill - if my understanding of the law is correct.

Hmmm...Sudan tried to hand usama over under clintoon's realm, didn't it? Sudan may have reduced its culpability seems to me.

Looking forward to disclosure.

You mean they aren't suing Bush and cheney? I thought they were to blame? What gives?
To: mikenola
They are suing bin Laden, right? No? Oh....can we sue the police every time a crime is committed?
To: mikenola
WOW! I read the headline and started to get a little cynical thinking it might be a lawsuit against the airlines or the government for letting Sept. 11th happen. Had seemed to me that after 9/11 there was too much finger-pointing at US interests rather than aiming the complete blame at the scumbag terrorists and those who support them (where it should be). Damn was I ever wrong...im sorry for jumping the gun. I'm happy to see this lawsuit...hope they win.

I think they're going to have a major problem with disclosure

If your understanding of the law is correct, then as someone a lot smarter than me once said, the law is an ass. What possible culpability does the American taxpayer have in the events of 9-11?

I agree. Let's sue those terrorist ba$tards out of existence!

What possible culpability does the American taxpayer have in the events of 9-11? Aw, geez, did you have to give the Islamikazi propaganda machine an open invitation to answer? Besides, don't you know that everything is the fault of Americans? ;^)

The day after THE meteor hit planet earth, the surviving attorneys will climb out of their respective bomb-shelters and fight over the "right" to sue the Catholic Church, and Protestant Churches in leiu of suing God Himself.

I hope you are wrong. IF this is true, it is idiotic. Perhaps someone could explain. However, lawyers are the ones who will reap the true windfall here, no matter what.
But I would like more input from any legal eagles that know the score on this. I should not be paying what the Saudi's owe these families. Have already done that through all that the government is paying out (that's MY money and YOUR moeny going out). Not griping about that - just saying - we have done enough. They must pay!

Let's sue those terrorist ba$tards out of existence!I rather see them become quick martyrs ready to collect their 72 virgins.

Gee, a lawsuit and no Larry Klayman?
To: Freedom'sWorthIt
I think how it works is that any assets that we (US) have frozen on behalf of these groups can legaly be transfered from the US GOVT to the plantifs (if they win the judgement). This would be an issue to the extent that we have probably already speant these frozen assets on worthless liberal programs
