They were Phoenicians...proto-Celts.
Their civilization went down salted by the Romans though.
Very cavalier... and easily said until you peer over the precipice. Is your daring posture worth the possibility of eternity in a very real Hell?
I will not live under your version of your gods rules, doc. Your particular god is not my sovereign. - Get it?
I haven't asked YOU to live under my version. I've only stated that I will. Do as you wish. Your future is in your hands alone.
The reason is simple: God made this universe. He owns it. He is sovereign. Ultimately, I will face Him as will you. Nations, and their founding documents, come and go. The Constitution is not holy writ. God's Word is. I'll stick with His wisdom in the long run.
If you think that p.o.v. is subversive, too bad. Jesus told the truth regardless of the consequences. Who would you rather be? The Roman centurion carrying out the letter of the law? Or those who serve the Creator of the Universe? You cannot serve God and mammon.

Many here are students of the past.
Baal. Blam said Baal....... he had a kneejerk narrow mind reaction
Blam darlin’, don’t ever change! Your GGG list is the most fun I have on FR (and that’s a lot!) I guess because almost all archaeology news is good news. People finding what was lost, and getting a little closer to understanding who we are and whence we came.
I love just about every article you post. Bravo Blam.
I'm happy to see that you're still here...I looked you up and noticed that you last posted on 2-27-2009.
I know so little about this subject that I was afraid I would post something that would just confuse everyone
You people are fantastic. I've never LMAO so much. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
You do realize this thread is seven years old, don't you?
Blast it! Is that what civ meant by “blast from the past”?
I thought blast meant something tripendicular.
Like totally tubular.
Wow! I’m HAVING a blast!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
(I know, I know, Blast Off, Bighead!!!) :-)
That's exactly what he meant.
But, you're having such a good time, go for it.
Oddly enough, our nations founders wrote the constitution to list our God given rights, not to grant them. Those who study history know this.
Not trying to make a point -- the phrase has just been stuck in my head for a few days...
Not surprising given the relevance the line has to the dangers of rampant, unrestrained democracy.
OMG, I just realized I posted a reply to a post from 2002. -—only on freerepublic is that even possible!
Thanks Blam. I have always loved archaeology and appreciate your list. Archaeology started out as my future career when I was in college. I began by illustrating some guys thesis by drawing obsidian points. I somehow got detoured into politics along the way.
