I don't think Sanchez favors a separate Hispanic state. When he served on the UT Board of Regents (appointed by George W. Bush!), he was outspoken in favor of lowered standards of admission for "minorities." He called it "compassion" and "fairness" to compete in "life's lottery." He is waging a much stronger gubernatorial bid than complacent Republicans had initially expected. Hundreds of thousands of Anglos are now supporting him. People downplay a candidate with millions of his own dollars to spend at their peril. Remember liberal Senators Dayton, Corzine, and Cantwell! Didn't they mostly spend their own funds.
