A political action committee is being formed to support five senior Republican state senators who helped thwart former Gov. Jim Gilmore's political goal of repealing the car tax.

All five Republican incumbents are rumored to be on a hit list of conservative Republicans who plan to challenge them for the GOP nomination next year.

These are five Virginia RINO's who should be defeated when they are up for election in 2003. They are responsible for the election of democrat Governor Mark Warner.

In the meantime, did you hear that heroine-addict Chuck Richardson was running for Mayor of Richmond on the Doug Wilder ticket?! Ain't that Marsh Machine wunnerful?! Wilder mentons the possibility of a City-elected Mayor, and the Marsh folks send out the Richardson fear tactic!! Talk about lowlifes!!

I'll bet'cha Doug Wilder's the first City-wide-elected Mayor of Richmond in 30+ years by the end of this decade!!

GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

These scumbag developers will stop at nothing to squeeze more tax dollars out of our pockets. The Car Tax stinks - it is anti-family and anti-conservation! Buy a new larger car to accommodate your growing family and pay more tax! Buy a new fuel-efficient car and pay more tax! Buy a new car to help the U.S. economy and pay more tax! And the biggest winners in Car Tax collections are the liberal cities and counties such as Arlington, Alexandria, and Richmond.

SHAME on any Republican who supports this terrible tax or opposes its immediate repeal!!

This sounds like a group of Dems trying to masquerade as Republicans. No self-respecting Republican can be in support of tax increases. It violates every principle in the platform. I'll believe Sen. Allen is involved with this group or its goals when I hear it in his own words. For now, I'm skeptical.

Kilgore Senate '08!!!

Am I reading the article wrong? It sounds to me like Kilgore is aligning himself with the wrong crowd.

It's the politic thing to do, but I sincerely believe Kilgore's ascension to Warner' s Senate seat is pre-ordained...MUD

Mud, I'd prefer Kilgore, Allen, and Warner do the principled thing, not the 'politic' thing. All three of them should be hitching their cart to McSweeny and Gilmore, not the RINO/Dem business-country club crowd. Does money really talk that loud(ly)?

Yeah, Wahnah's the worst, but Gilmore ain't no avenging angel, IMHO!! Jim had plenty of opportunities to put these Rinos in their place, but he couldn't pull the trigger!! It cost him a whole lotta legitimacy when they pulled the rug outta him on the Car Tax pledge, IMHO..MUD

Absolutely. He is the worst of the lot and is the RINO-Ringleader. I guarantee he will have tough, conservative primary opposition next year or I don't know McSweeney.

I'm VERY disappointed in Allen for going along with this. These RINO's need to be gone, now!

Correct. Kilgore and Allen have aligned themselves with the "go-along, get-along" Jawn Wahner wing of the Party right now. That indicates that their previous support of the car-tax cut was suspect, or as Mud says they are being "politic." They are on the wrong side of this issue and will make it harder to defeat these 5 RINO's in next year's primaries. But I understand McSweeney's PAC is raising some big time money and plans to run some top notch conservatives. It should get interesting.

Baloney. Jim Gilmore is responsible for the election of Mark Warner. He single-handedly destroyed the budget. Next in line is Mark Earley who ran an oatmeal campaign.

Thanks to Gilmore, Matricardi and Wilkins the Virginia GOP is self-destructing. George Allen and Jerry Kilgore are the only bright spots left.

Go ahead, oppose these five Senators, then watch us lose control of the Senate and the House after it took us 150 years to gain control in the first place.

"Go ahead, oppose these five Senators, then watch us lose control of the Senate and the House..."

These are GOP Primary challenges in areas that deserve non-RINOs representing them...if we can't impact our own backyard in our efforts to see Guv'ment at every level dis-empowered and de-emphasized, where do we get off lecturing the Northeasterners fer their gutless moderates?!! The VA GOP ain't self-destructing, we're just looking to purge some of the deadwood who might as well be RATS anyway!!

"Jim Gilmore is responsible for the election of Mark Warner."

Not True.. The LIES spread by the RATS and the liberal media that the car tax cut destroyed the economy is what hurt Gilmore and ruined any chances Mark Earley had to become Governor. What makes it so bad is that these 5 members of the GOP joined with the enemy to keep a budget from being passed. We do not need their ilk in the state Senate. They can be replaced by true tax-cutting conservatives.
