Missing Muslim scholar Abu Qatada, suspected of being a key Al-Qaeda operative, has sent an e-mail calling on Muslims here to martyr themselves, a British daily newspaper said.

I'm not kidding- I look at that picture and without knowing anything about the guy, I just want to pick up a telephone (dictionary, paving stone, insert hard object here____ ) and start bashing his head in. I'm pretty sure I'll recognize him if I see him because he'll be the guy I want to attack for no apparant reason.

17 July 2002 : British Muslims Should Prepare For Martyrdom

London (Azzam) : Western press sources have claimed that Abu Qatada has advised British Muslims to prepare themselves for martyrdom, and that victory is very near. It was reported that he said that Muslims all around the world sacrificing greatly and the British Muslims shouldpartake in this.

The Sunday Times reported that this message was receivedby email. Abu Qatada has been in hiding since last December, his present whereabouts are unknown. He is currently wanted for questioning by various Western intelligence agencies. He has been accused of being the 'spokesman' for Al-Qaeda in Europe, a claim he has consistently denied.

The message was also transmitted by Omar Bakri Muhammed, leader of Al- Muhajiroon. It is unknown where Omar Bakri obtained the message.
