Four Family Members Found Stabbed to Death in California Home

WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) - Four family members, including an 8-year-old girl and a 70-year-old woman, were found stabbed to death in a home outside the city Saturday, authorities said. No arrests were made. A relative found the bodies and called police at about 11 a.m., but police said they probably died on Thursday.

There were no signs of forced entry at the home but it appeared as if there was a struggle, said sheriff's Deputy Ray Peavey.

Peavey said preliminary information indicates "it's just a quiet family, nothing to make you think anything out of the ordinary. It's just baffling."

The victims were identified as Miguel Ruiz, 37, and Maritza Trejo, 41; their daughter Jasmine Ruiz, 8, and relative Anna Martinez, 70.

Whittier is 24 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.

Whittier is Richard Nixon's old home town. Probably few murders back when he lived there.

Barbara Boxer should use this to emphasize the need to keep guns out of homes. I mean, just think of how much worse this would have been with guns in the home!

I suspect that there is not a single town (over pop. 10,000) that did not have fewer murders than when Nixon lived in Whittier. So what ?

Sounds like a drug related vendetta to me. They take out entire families and leave no witnesses.

It is sad. I feel sorry for that relative that found this.

Its also sad that nobody in the house had a gun with which to defend theirself or the family. This is much more likely to happen in California than in Texas.

Good thing they didn't have a gun, they might have hurt themselves!

Whittier is Richard Nixon's old home town.

And Dan Rather will find some way to pin this on him.

If you have ever noticed, Laz does not need sarcasm tags.
