[history]
The trial of ex-cop Charles Schwarz was thrown into turmoil yesterday after a juror revealed he believes some of his fellow panelists may be biased - raising the specter of a mistrial.
"I want to express my grave concern about a statement made by one of the jurors," wrote Juror No. 4 in a note handed to Brooklyn federal Judge Reena Raggi.

I wonder why these biased jurors were not eliminated during voir dire. Did they lie about not having prejudged the case?

Please bump this to other NY FReepers.

I am glad Juror number 4 is not going to change his mind if indeed some jurors lied and had the case prejudged.

If this ends up being a mistrial, it'll be interesting to see if the state tries Schwartz yet again.
To: aristeides
The political situation demands a re-trial until they get what they want - a conviction.

I'm sure you're right. When his conviction was overturned, prosecutors did everything they could, to keep him in jail a little longer, before grudgingly releasing him on bail.

A very restricted freedom while on bail, as I remember. I hope that they do not retry this officer, that they have the sourage to do it.

I guess we now see whether they prosecute again.
To: aristeides
Thanks for the ping. Did they give any hints about the make-up of the vote? A lone hold out for acquittal or conviction? Did they give a hint about a re-trial?

I didn't hear anything about those things on Hannity. Maybe other reports will say.

This man has been tossed around like some rag doll by the posturing politicians in NYC. It's sick.
