(shudder) Have to remember that awful moment...went home from a big grocery buy with baby, parked in garage and unloaded groceries. Then started to put the frozen stuff away and get out the stuff for dinner...heard a holler. Baby was really mad at being left. It was a cool garage--but I can see how it might happen.

That brings back an ugly memory for me and the wifey too. Wife stops at the house to tell me whats up after her trip and where she is going next (she leaves the air conditioner on). She has to go somewhere else (I forget where now) and she just hops out of the car to tell me (I;m on the puter of course) where she is going next. Of course it is just for a few seconds so no need to get the kid out (he is asleep). I walk out to the car with her to say goodbye (within two-three minutes) and the car has turned off and the air conditioner is no longer running. I open the door as soon as I realise it and it is already a good 90 degrees in the car. This is just in a matter of minutes. My boy has a sweat bead forming on his forehead where he was getting warm. My wife starts crying thinking of what could of been. I (being sort of an ass in tense situations at times) give my wife a "you could of killed my kid" look. It was not until I had time to cool off and think, did I realise it was just an accident. We no longer leave the kids (have a second child now) in the car for even a minute. BTW. my boy was ok, he did not have time to get hot yet, but it sure would of not took much longer.

Accidents are possible, all cases should be heard by a jury to make sure. Not everything is always cut and dry.
