I don't understand how one can forget a child in the back seat. But if the child has fallen asleep and it's quiet back there, then maybe, since we're all human.

How negligent a parent can you be, to forget that you put your own child in the car when you left? Like someone posted a few back, it's like saying "Gee, I didn't think the gun was REALLY loaded". I was SURE I dropped him off at daycare.....

Exactly, complacency is no excuse! You must be constantly aware of where your children are especially when they are that young...........a dog can take care of themselves on their own, babies cannot! Period!

And what I don't get about it is that it only takes a second to glance in the back even if you are really sure you droppped them at daycare. Who is so busy they can't take a moment to turn thier head and just be sure the child is not there? If you are worried about this, leave your briefcase or papers on the floor in front of the child than you have to go back there to get those. Leave your badge on the floor in front of them, something for goodness sakes. I'm trying to give this mom in Dallas some leeway, but I still can't see it. Like I said, it only takes a moment to look in the back seat. IMO, the more likely scenario is these folks pull into work and see someone they know and thier off. Anything happening just moments before is forgotten.
