Sen. Hillary Clinton has called on General Mills to put New York's Bravest and Finest on Wheaties boxes.
"In this age of celluloid superheroes, America's children have real heroes to look up to, especially in the wake of Sept. 11," Clinton (D-N.Y.) wrote to General Mills' chairman and CEO, Steve Sanger.
She endorsed an online petition, posted at www.petitiononline.com/sgt964/petition.html, that calls for a Wheaties box featuring a New York firefighter, cop and transit police officer.
General Mills Vice President Tom Forsythe said the company had weighed the idea but decided it "didn't seem appropriate."
Peter Gorman of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association of New York, said, "I don't see a downside. If young kids think of firefighters and police officers as role models in their communities, that's a good thing."

That's the ONLY good idea I've heard from Hillary so far.

Let the freeping begin. Need contact information.

Excuse me; is everybody going to pi$$ on this idea just because Hilary Clinton thinks it's a good idea (and probably has more pull to make it happen than most of the people who signed that petition)?

I wasn't even her idea; she, as usual, is trying to look like she's in front of the parade.

You know what kind of box I meant, don't you? I heard a guy say once "the only thing she'd look good in is a casket".

The BWitch would most certainly have ITS name and a short quote on the box thereby getting much needed 'accept and re-elect me' coverage.
We are not ignorant of the Evil's devices and Tom Forsythe is no jackass.

I don't think it's inappropriate per se, but some may feel it cheapens them to be used as a marketing ploy to sell cereal. Not that our country doesn't have a history of doing just that (Princess Diana collector's plates, and so forth).
Maybe Hillary has stock in General Mills.
To: bradactor
After appropriate legislation is passed we will learn that she means only the gay female democrat heores of 9/11.
Shoot, she's probably talking about herself.

I'm not keen on the idea of commericializing/merchandising real heroes.
The 'toon is probably next in line with an idea for Cherrios Honey Nuts and Sluts.

People are indeed going to hate the idea because they know Hilary never does anything that isn't for her own benefit. She has tested the winds and is frantic to be on the bandwagon. I'd love to know who else has proposed such a thing, and I'd publicize their past efforts if the idea is to be promoted. The woman was booed and hissed at when she tried to horn in on the 911 situation early on. While she is now in a position that her sincerity will always be questioned, it's not due to any VRWC, but rather due to her own selfish actions in the past. She is not known for her graciousness or humility.

Unfortunately, there's not enough evidence to put Hillary's picture on a Post Office wall...

Hopefully we'll get Hitlery's picture on a milk carton soon.
