God bless and keep your father and you and your family!

(My maternal grandmother was from Donegal -- may she greet your father.)

How sweet of you to share this with us. I know a number of us felt as if we had
a very good friend in your Da. Don't worry, you have filled his shoes pretty well.

My condolences, tears and prayers go out to you and your family. I always loved your father. Fear not and weep little, for he is now with Our Father and His Son Jesus Christ, in Heaven. < Amazing Grace on pipes cry out in the home of the roachie>

Siobhan, I liked your father very much. He had a wonderful warrior spirit. His posts of pictures and icons frequently made their way onto my desktop. What a wonderful last gift he gave to your family and specifically, Finn and Aileen. I know he continues to fight our good fight in Heaven now amongst the angels and saints. He is still with us in spirit.

I am so sorry to hear this. I had read his posts in the past and been impressed by them, and I did notice that they had disappeared - I didn't realize he was your father.

This has been a hard day for several of us on this list. My prayers for you, your Da and your family.

With the Saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of Thy servant...

Oh, what a sad day here on FR. My heart is aching for little Michael and his family, and now for you, Siobhan. Your father was a wonderful man, even to those of us who knew him for just a few months. His death was most beautiful, coming right after saying the Rosary and the Divine Mercy with his loved ones. And the joy of the young couple he brought together. God is good, for He always sends joy to balance our sadness.

May Kieran rest in peace. And lucky are we to have him as a saint in Heaven to pray for us and for the Church!

Dearest Siobhan ... for the first time ever, personal commitments kept me away from the computer all weekend. I apologize for not writing sooner.

My sincerest sympathy to you and your entire family. I so appreciate your posting the story of history_matters. What a remarkable man he was! He gave a lasting gift to his family - devout faith! That is so difficult to do when the world often counteracts our best intentions. How truly amazing to know that he brought together your son and his personal nurse. The joy of their engagement will always be bittersweet. And his final act was to gather his family around him to say the rosary as well as the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. You must be very consoled to know that Our Blessed Mother welcomed him into heaven.

My prayers go out to you and all your loved ones. You dad will be remembered in a special way.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to you and your family. I never knew your father was a FReeper until you started this thread. I now know of one of the people who had a great impact on your life, and his influence definitely shows in what I have seen in your posts. From what you have written, he sounds like a remarkable man who was a humble servant to God and his adopted country.

Eternal rest, grant unto to him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shime upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
