CAIRO: The Arab League secretary-general on Saturday questioned the legality of a US proposal to fingerprint and photograph visitors to America, saying such measures were "discriminatory" against Arabs and Muslims.
"The Arab League is ... currently conducting a legal and political study on those discriminatory American procedures," Amr Moussa told reporters without elaborating. He was apparently referring to the procedures as being discriminatory against Arabs and Muslims.
The Justice Department plan, proposed Wednesday, seeks to expand an existing law's reach to better track tourists, business travelers, students and temporary workers considered possible security threats.
Officials familiar with the proposal said it was mainly aimed at visitors from Mideast and Islamic countries. Attorney General John Ashcroft did not specify any country but said countries certain to be singled out include those on the State Department's list of terrorist nations. Libya, Iraq, Sudan and Syria, members of the 22-member Arab League, are on the list.
News of the plan, which proposes fingerprinting and photographing visitors on their arrival into America, was slammed in Arab and Islamic states.
The proposal aims to avoid terrorist operations similar to the Sept 11 attacks. America has already instituted visa changes since the attacks on New York and Washington D.C., which were carried out by 19 Middle Eastern men, 15 of which came from Saudi Arabia.
Moussa's comments followed an emergency meeting of the league's permanent representatives to discuss the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian crisis.

You know, I think this should be done for anyone who wants to visit the U.S. And we should expect the same. Such arrogance as though they had a right to come to this country with no questions asked. Or as if they think they are welcome here. Their rat hole countries were created by their wonderful religion and culture. Excuse me if I don't want that in my country.
To: Godel
They should be anointed with bacon fat before being allowed into the United States. Then they would have true discrimination to bitch about.

When Americans today pay all the added expenses and time of boarding a plane, we don't watch out for elderly Dutch women. We watch for middle-eastern males because that's the group that causes all the bombings. LET THEM POLICE THEIR OWN! Don't expect us to apologize for the fact that Muslims are causing all the problems. (It is very tiresome to watch these idiots trying to use our legal system to camoflauge the fact that Muslims have hundreds of murderous idiots running around, and we are all supposed to put up with it.)

No kidding Homer...That's the point...I am prejudiced when I pit one truck against another one...Why wouldn't I be when it comes to a race or religion that is "hell" bent on killing American men, women and children...
Furthur more, I believe it's American citizens' duty to discriminate against A-rabs and muslims...

We let Arab muslims hijack planes and kill 3,000 of us, cause tremendous loss and pain to their loved ones, and send our economy into a nosedive.
Arab muslims continue to train in madrasahs and be supported by the likes of Saddam Hussein and Prince Abdullah Master of Ceremonies of the Terrorism Telethon.
Arab muslims like Osama bin Laden lead Arab muslim anti-American jihadists like the al Qaeda in pursuit of mass murder of Americans.
They can pose for a photo, give us their fingerprints--after all, we cannot even go about in their countries, cannot carry a Bible, our women cannot show their faces.
And the Khobar Towers terrorist act that killed our servicemen--the Arab muslims thumbed their noses at Freeh's FBI investigation.
The Arab muslims let our military save them from Saddam Hussein--then side with him and threaten us with an oil embargo.
I don't want to hear them oinking like pigs. They can take that with them when they go back to their Arab muslim paradise.

Arab League slams US plan to screen visitors
Golly, isn't that just toooooo bad? Deal with it. Members of the EU are cracking down, too. Maybe it's a signal that Muslims need to get their fanatics back under control? I have no sympathy
Do you think that the Arab League will be asking the ACLU (or some such) to use our legal system against us?
To: knighthawk
Hey, I agree that Muslim visitors shouldn't be screened!
They just shouldn't be allowed out of their home countries until they can abide by the laws of the civilized world and agree to join the 21st century.

Message to the Arab League: GET BENT.

If all the terrorists were arabs, and arabs are more likely to be terrorists, does it not make sense to profile them? We use profiling every day, when its a serial killer, its assumed to be a white male between certain ages, when its an armed robbery in a poor neighborhood, its assumed to be black, when its white collar money laundering, its assumed to be white or jewish. Profiles start, then narrow down. Common sense is not politically correct.

The simple answer is that we have seen the pictures of the "Arab Street", we've seen the demonstrations, we've watched our flag being burnt, we've heard the "Death to America" chants. We have been left with no other alternative then to decide that what we've seen is the truth and that the average Arab wants us dead. Therefore, we are being extremely generous in even allowing them to visit. If they don't want to be fingerprinted and photographed, I suggest they visit somewhere else.

We have been left with no other alternative then to decide that what we've seen is the truth and that the average Arab wants us dead. Since we've seen or heard NOTHING to the contrary.

Absolutely. I'm sick of the weak protestations of "of course the killing of innocent civilians is wrong but........" followed by no actions. If the Arab League wants to be treated like everyone else, they'd better start ACTING like everyone else. Dig those terrorists out of their hiding places, tell the Imams who are stirring the people up to SHUT UP! Start freezing the bank accounts of their own citizens who are financing terrorists.
I'm sick of our laws and our sensibilities being used against us. Discrimination? You bet. I only wish we'd been a little more discriminating about who we let into this country before now.
To: knighthawk
Dear Arab League, How about this? We start slamming planes into your buildings and then let's see how quickly you start screening your visitors. Take your boxcutters and go home, you cave dwelling b*stards.
Love,
Big Guy and Rusty 99

It is a matter of procedures but I feel confident we can overcome it. If I may say so,the Arab League has little real power. It is mired by baseless accusations of corruptions-The Americans are in charge now! To state our allegations,I present Attorney General John Ascroft who speaks on our behalf:"To those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty," he warned, "my message is this: Your tactics only aid terrorists ."
