'Most Wanted' show leads to arrest in Lewisville

By RACHEL HORTON / The Dallas Morning News
A tip from a viewer of Saturday night's America's Most Wanted program paid off Monday morning with an arrest in Lewisville.
Olin Earl Young Jr., 59, who is wanted in Greenville County, S.C., in connection with multiple felony drunken driving cases including two reckless homicides, was arrested early Monday when he arrived to work at a Lewisville construction site.
Authorities in the South Carolina town of Mauldin have been searching for Mr. Young since November 2000, when he skipped bail following a tragic drunken driving collision.
"We've been looking for him for a long time, and the family has been suffering because they can't get closure with him out," said Mauldin Police Capt. Steve Moore. "We've put a lot of man hours into trying to find him.
Lisa Jackson Sinclair, 28, and her 4-year-old daughter, Monica Sinclair, both from Liberty, S.C., were killed in the Aug. 27, 1999, accident, Capt. Moore said.
Three other people were seriously injured after Mr. Young allegedly plowed his Ford F-350 into the back of a Mitsubishi Mirage that was stopped at a red light and rammed it through the intersection into a semi truck stopped on the other side.
The show aired Saturday night. A tipster called the television program, which contacted the U.S. Marshal's office, officials said.
"Basically, it was a lead that was given to America's Most Wanted ," said Deputy Marshal Douglas Corey. "Somebody just recognized him from the Lewisville area, from a construction site."

Lewisville police assisted marshals in staking out the location early Monday, officials said. They waited for Mr. Young to arrive at work and arrested him without incident at about 6:40 a.m. in the 800 block of the Interstate 35 northbound service road.
"We went over there, and lo and behold, Mr. Young was there," said Lewisville Police Sgt. Richard Douglass.
"It was very good information," Mr. Corey said. "I think [the television program is] a very good tool."
Mr. Young was taken to the Lewisville jail and later transported to the Denton County jail, where he is being held without bail.
He is wanted on two counts of reckless homicide, four counts of felony driving under intoxication resulting in great bodily injury, and a probation violation. If convicted, each count could carry a maximum penalty of 15 years behind bars.

I love that show. Keep up the fantastic work Mr. Walsh. We watch every week, even if it's a rerun.
A special thanks to all of the people out there who phone in the tips that lead to the capture of all the scumbags!

Agree wholeheartedly! Kudos to all the folks who rein this scum in! But I wonder what actually happens to this vermin once they're apprehended; I PRAY they don't go before liberal judges and clueless juries...

This show is indeed very effective. Back when the show first came out, I was living in Tucson, AZ, and on one of their very first episodes, I and several others recognized a murderer that had an MO of striking up promising business deals and romances with unsuspecting victims.
This particular murderer was at a party held by another friend of mine, who, coincidentally, had just gotten into a 'business deal' with the murderer.
When we saw the face on TV, we about.... well, you know, imagine the feeling.
The murderer was apprehended the very next day, and it turns out, the arresting officer, I believe, if my memory is intact, was the ex-husband of the woman the murderer was currently dating. Exciting for awhile, let me tell you. You just never think it'll ever happen to you, but it can.

Wow! What a story! I'm always paying super close attention during the show, and check out the most wanted list on the FBI website occasionally. I figure one of these days, I might actually have a sighting of my own.
What a great feeling that must be to know that you helped bring a murderer to justice.

Same here; if I only get to see one hour a week of TV, it's AMW.
If I get two hours, it's AMW and Cops.
Those are the best "reality" TV ever...shows kids the true nature of the dark side
of humanity, and how the good side can and MUST fight back.
AMW is about the only show that consistently makes me get up and whoop and hollar
when they've nailed some bad-boy, especially ones that thought they were untouchables,
like Ira Einhorn.

The SOB is lucky they, the people who turned him in, didn't just shoot the SOB. Not so very long ago, they might have. Lewisville is getting way too yuppiphied for that though.

Well, oddly enough, it wasn't a 'great feeling', it was more like one of, "whew, THAT was close", like when you just miss a semi coming around a corner or something.
Oh, one other detail I didn't mention.
This murderer's MO was to invite the victim to 'dinner', and the victims were never seen again. Well, my friend was very happy about the new 'business deal', and was telling us how he had a dinner invitation from the man, a particular day in the next week or so. Close? I'd say.

especially ones that thought they were untouchables, like Ira Einhorn. As I was reading your post, that scumbag's face was stuck in my mind! Of all the ones they've caught, we dance a jig and whoop and holler about the creeps that think their untouchable too!
We love COPS also. Loved the season premier this year when they caught someone from the most wanted list, blended COPS and AMW into one very cool show!

And it teaches them the prime rule of surviving the teen years:
The Guy With No Shirt Always Gets Arrested
If someone ever ribs me about being "overdressed" at a social occasion or business function,
I always tell them that I learned to never under-dress like the guys getting arrested
on COPS!
Sidenote: I don't know if it's true post 9-11, but when I put on the bidness suit
I rarely get hasseled during security screening at the airport.
I've never been bothered during international travel; I notice the folks stopped
at customs often are the casually-dressed guy with a two-day beard.
T-shirt and blue jeans? I get the "Mister, we'll have to examine your bag" about
75% of the time.
