The family of the deceased scumbag will now sue Detective Morales for wrongful death.

No, there's no money there. They will sue the city/county/state for not controlling the situation enough to prevent their loved one from becoming worm food. If they really want to hit the jackpot they will sue the gun manufacturer for creating an inherently lethal product.

You are right about that. I would much rather have a gun in the cockpit than the cabin where I will be.

FNC just reported that during the gun wrestle between the defendant and the deputy, the gun went off and shot the deputy in the leg.

#27 reports that it was 'guilty' -- sounds like the jury got it right.

My guess is that he was not a white guy, otherwise we would have been told he was a white guy - probably an eeeeevil conservative Republican who supports throwing grannies out of 10th floor windows after denying them medicaid.

Just sorry the bailiff took a bullet first.

Heard the preliminary news conference on the radio a few minutes ago. Sherriff said the deputy took the bullet in the leg. If he did indeed take it in the groin, we owe this guy more than the rest of his career off. Headline should read, "Sherriff's Deputy Denied Sex Life by Scumbag"

I hope it's his leg.

A better headline might have been:

SCUMBAG DEFENDANT BECOMES CORPSE

At that time, Alfonso Morales, the lead detective in the homicide case against Ball, stood at the prosecution table and shot the defendant.

Good shootin' Detective Morales.

Usually these guys aren't aiming for a deputy--they're aiming for the Judge, prosecutor, sometimes their own lawyer...if Morales hadn't shot Ball, he would've tried to take out as many people as possible.

Defendants and citizens in general, as this story shows, don't need to bring guns into the courtroom. It's much easier to grab one from a stupid bailiff -- a "professional," you see.

Now, then, substitute the title "sky marshall" or perhaps "pilot" for "bailiff"..............

One Dead, One Wounded in Milwaukee Courtroom Shooting

Wed May 29, 1:39 PM ET

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Reuters) - A defendant just found guilty of murder grabbed a court bailiff's revolver and wounded him on Wednesday, and then was shot to death by another officer in the courtroom, police said.

The unidentified 20-year-old defendant leaped across the defense table and snatched the weapon, firing it into the bailiff's abdomen or groin. The bailiff's wound was not considered life threatening.

A police detective -- or possibly another bailiff -- drew his weapon and shot the defendant dead, police said.

The shooting occurred in the Milwaukee County Safety Building, which houses courtrooms, adjacent to police headquarters.
