BARKSDALE PILOTS TAKE TOP HONORS AT HAWGSMOKE
The Hawgsmoke trophy is coming home to Barksdale Air Force Base. The 47th Fighter Squadron Air Force unit from Barksdale beat out seventeen other teams to take top honors at the Hawgsmoke competition over the weekend, and was declared the world's best A-10 unit. The name Hawgsmoke refers to the type of aircraft flown in the competition, the A-10 Thunderbolt II, affectionately known as a warthog. The competition focuses on accurately dropping bombs, firing the maverick missile and strafing proficiency with the A-10's thirty-millimeter Gatling-gun. Teams are scored on where their bombs land and how well they shot.
I'm sure they're all foaming at the mouth and ready to go! No doubt about it!
