It turns out that someone DID imagine a terrorist attack where planes would be slammed into US buildings as on September 11. A 1999 report warned the executive branch that Osama bin Laden's terrorists might hijack an airliner and dive bomb it into the Pentagon or other government building. The report contrasts with the Bush administration officials' assertions that none in government had imagined an attack like Sept. 11 before that time.
Of the entire article, THAT'S the part of it she just HAD to read! No mention of the Clintoon administration whatsoever! >:-(
And she read it in a very snide tone of voice.

U.S. warned in 1995 of plot to hijack planes, attack buildings
MANILA, Philippines (CNN) -- The FBI was warned six years ago of a terrorist plot to hijack commercial planes and slam them into the Pentagon, the CIA headquarters and other buildings, Philippine investigators told CNN.
Philippine authorities learned of the plot after a small fire in a Manila apartment, which turned out to be the hideout of Ramzi Yousef, who was later convicted for his role in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Yousef escaped at the time, but agents caught his right-hand man, Abdul Hakim Murad, who told them a chilling tale.

The idea of flying planes into buildings wa known in 1995, and the information was given to CNN no less, so why is CNN chastising Bush who wasn't President at the time, when Clinton who WAS the sitting president and CNN knew back in 1995? What did CNN know and when did they know it?? /sarcasm

Ummm neither of the aforementioned are suited to the particular task to which you have accredited them.
The information as Years old, before Bush was in the WH....Odds are they knew nothing, bc they were provided with Newer information.
But.....Why was nothing done Between 95, and 2000?
Yes, that is how their tactics probably evolved. A stroke of evil brilliance, to be sure.
Actually, in my earlier post, I was merely sniping at the way that the report had been presented in the media, so as to infer that the Bush administration could have known, and should have known, exactly what was to happen on 9-11, and thus was in a position to prevent it. The administration did a fine job of refuting these bogus claims, particularly by disclosing that most of the intel was fragmentary and not verified, and that the dims had been briefed with the same intel at the same time as the executive.
Not to say that we (the country) wouldn't benefit by an objective analysis of our security aparatus and policies. Too bad the dims would never permit this. They have clearly shown that they will use this issue (and any other issue they possibly can) for partisan political advantage. I sincerely hope that the majority sees them for what they are -- truly despicable and borderline traitorous rats.

But this statement is in error. The evidence so far shows that, while clinton was too busy fundraising and entertaining with Monica to be bothered with OBL and terrorism -- a fact that is WELL documented, President Bush was reviewing the data and formulating a plan to counter the threat. No one will ever know if, had Bush's plans been implemented earlier in his FIRST term, that the horror of 9-11 would have been prevented.
Another fact that IS known, is that ruinous PC policies which were implemented during the clinton administration severely hampered the ability of our intelligence collection agencies. gotta get to work now, but do a search on: "CIA+Toricelli" to see for yourself. I will, however, agree with you that the US had been pretty naive prior to 9-11, seemingly believing that terrorism was an "overseas" problem. It remains to be seen if 9-11 was a sufficient eye-opener.
