"The oceans will easily absorb all the water created by human burning of hydrogen. It will add about 1/100th of an inch to the level of the oceans in the next ten centuries. The level of oxygen in the air will be regulated automatically by the natural combustion of forests, houses, etc. With a little less oxygen in the air, it will be a safer world; with a little more, our houses and trees would be burning like crazy."Well it's nice to see somebody who can "do the math". You did do the math didn't you?? If your calculations are correct, then I'm not worried either. It would be interesting to calculate oxygen loss/projected energy consumption/population growth....assuming the world converted to this source of hydrogen. I do know one thing. The atmosphere will be a heck of a lot cleaner! Imagine the air quality in LA or Bejing if humans stopped burning hydrocarbon fossil fuels.

Being able to deliver safe hydrogen is an important part of the puzzle. Recently I read about a company that has developed a method using Boron chemistry to safely store hydrogen. From what I can tell the hydrogen is stored in a solid form until a catalyst is introduced that releases it. No compression or liquefaction is used.

Too expensve to extract from sea water and natural gas on the surface but trivial to extract from granite miles below the surface. All we need are more laws that make oil and coal astronomically expensive.

...the most promising alternative to today's dwindling stocks of fossil fuels Oil and gas are NOT fossil fuels.
