The Nuclear Option of the US, Iraq, and Al Quaida: Could force US nuclear deterrent use.
Debka File (Hebrew Edition)- rough translation ^ | April 12, 2002 (2:00pm Israel time) | Debka File (Hebrew Edition)

As the nuclear option becomes more and more real on the US side, we shall soon find out how real the nuclear threat from Iraq or Bin Laden is. This is our special source said on March 22.

Two week later, on Thursday, April 11, Saddam Hussein called the heads of Iraqi nuclear project and announced clearly: 'For years we have invested hundreds of millions of dollars, now we need results. The Arab Nation is in danger and we need to hit and subdue its enemies.'

When Saddam speaks, every detail is precise and planned. (how he speaks, his body language, what he leaves unsaid; as found by all dictators.)

One day previous, on Wednesday April 10, his son, Kusai, said 'Iraq wants to join and fight for the Palestinians but is prohibited by geography.

But he added: 'The Jews know that their end will come from Babylon.'

When we connect the words of the son to the words of his father there can be no mistake: Saddam Hussein is threatening to use nuclear weapons against Israel.

We now remind you of information that we brought on March 22, 2002.

The military sources of Debka file report that Middle East and European leaders are more and more convinced that the United States will not attempt to invade Iraq conventionlly. Not in the state her military is now, and especially during the Afghan campaign. To conquer Baghdad, in which Saddam has 250,000 soldiers, would jeopardize the lives of too many thousands of US soldiers. Therefore, they are convinced that the US will use nuclear weapons for the second time in history, and for the same reasons: in order to save her soldiers' lives.

Those same people believe that the nuclear option is becoming more and more likely in Afghanistan, especially after the fights that took place in early April in the 'Sheikut' region, south of 'Garadjz', and in the caves of Tora Bora in December of 2001.

They learned from the experience of these battles that the US and its allies do not have the special forces needed for a long, continuous war in the mountainous heights of over 10,000 ft. Worse even, they don't have the equipment needed for such a war. To train enough soldiers,(approx. 10,000-30,000) in the special techniques needed to fight under these conditions would take 3-4 years. Additionally, since the need for special forces is so high in Afghanistan, the number of these soldiers left in America herself to combat potential terrorist attacks is diminished.

The US never announced any nuclear option to its allies in this global war against terrorism, however it now becomes obvious that they will not hesitate to destroy the Iraqi leadership that hides in deep underground cities- with nuclear weapons.

After that, the Americans will put an ultimatum to the Iraqi army (esp. the 7th tank division -of the Republican Guard, who's job it is to guard Saddam Hussein), to surrender immediately. If they refuse then they will be met with the same fate.

This nuclear forecast has only become an option in the past few weeks, as only so recently has the nuclear and biological threat been made clear to the US and her allies: Israel, Germany, and UK.

When Vice President, Dick Cheney came to the Middle East he heard from both Saudi Arabia and Israel secret sources that one of the ways that Saddam Hussein is going to try to prevent an American attack is to pass to Al Quaida people some nuclear or 'radioactive' bombs, or chemical weapons; and that those weapons are already installed in at least one of the following places: A major US city, Israel, Saudi Arabia, The PA, London, Rome, or Berlin. In each of these areas there exist cells of operatives waiting for the 'go-ahead.' A possible nuclear terrorist attack has been the main topic between Vice President Cheney and Ariel Sharon. These two spoke about the fact that there already exists such a nuclear capability since one was apprehended with one of the US cells.

There is possible information that it would be delivered by boat or by a Kamikaze flight.

(skipping ahead a bit...)

America therefore has prepared this 'second line of attack', a nuclear response in case she, or her allies, are hit.

This is what George W. Bush meant on March 22, when he stated that 'We shall not allow Iraq to threaten our allies with weapons of mass destruction.

A few hours later Pres. Bush told George Tenet that now we are convinced that there a connection between Iraq and Al Quaida.

Around the same time Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin sent one of his most trusted advisors, ex-Minister of Nuclear Energy, Y'bgeny Adamov, to give an interview with the most well-read newspaper: YzVastia. This interview, as is the way of the Kremlin, hints at what is to come. In this interview on Monday March 25, Adamov said that soon the role of nuclear weapons is going to change from a fearful possibility to a more economical way to save lives of soldiers in the resolution of conflicts. It was the first time that the Russian public was alerted that in the coming global war against terror the US will prefer to use nuclear weapons to save on casualities or that the terrorists may instigage this nuclear exchange.

Small strategic nukes-is Debka Hebrew more accurate than DEBKA English version..?

We have been delivering small cave nukes from Nevada that were rushed to production lately.

Reading the news and in between the lines, I've been thinking for some time now that such a strategery as Debka here describes might be a possibility.

That the Devil is in league with the Devil is no surprise, so of course the lines between all the bad guys connect, and Saddam doesn't wanna be a squatting duck as we prepare to pull the trigger.

The Euro-trash seems to be horrified of the idea of pre-emptive strikes. The Arabs have no such aversion. The Jews do not. I pray to God neither do we.

As my ol' Pap said, Son, if you're gonna make history, then MAKE HISTORY.

There is at least twice the information in the Hebrew Edition. Some major breaking stories never even make it into the English Edition.

Re #3

This was a quite likely scenario to me for some time. With down-sized military stretched over several places and Saddam likely to hit US with all he got, small nukes could be solutions to these US predicaments. This can also serve warning to other players waiting in the wing: Syria, Iran, China, and N. Korea. I have read many stories and predictions about eventual nuclear battle in Mid-East in the past. Many of them appeared to be too fanciful. Now I can see a real life event shaping up to more or less fit those predictions.

I don't think the average American understands the mindset of the Islamists. They would gladly trade the lives of 50 of their own people for one Jew if they thought it would mean the destruction of Israel.

I will never forget a converstation I had with a Pakistani co-worker about 15 years ago. He told me that Pakistan had recently purchased F-16s from the US and as soon as they could develop nuclear weapons they would bomb and destroy Israel. Just like that. Very matter-of-fact. This was not some cracker. He was an engineer who came from a well-to-do family in Pakistan.

He also asked me why planes from Muslim countries were never hijacted. When I said I didn't know, his reply was because the pilot would just crash the plane if there was an attempt. In other words, Muslims would gladly trade a hundred innocent lives to thwart the efforts of one of their enemies.

In this context, 9-11 was an incredible coup for their cause, because they gave 19 lives in exchange for thousands of Americans. These people will only be deterred by the threat, and realization, of massive destruction of their own people. That's why the Bush Administration put a rush on anti-missle technology as soon as they got into office. They were scared as hell about something. It's why they started talking about using nukes a few weeks ago. This war could get very ugly very quickly.

I used to work with a Persian engineer whose dad was a top general under the Shah. I asked him whether the mullahs would use nukes on Israel if they could get their hands on some. He looked shaken but said that the mullahs of Iran would not hesitate to nuke Israel as soon as they had the capability. He was even more disturbed when I pointed that the Israelis always strike preemptively. When the Mossad says that the enemy has both the capability and the intent, the IDF will strike. As for the U.S.A., we definitely considered tactical nukes for Desert Storm #1. I still don't think we'll use them first. However, we will definitely use them if there's a WMD attack on U.S. interests or population.

I remember speaking with an arab worker in Israel around 15 years ago. He said he and his family all contented themselves with a 'lachmania' (small roll) and 'zeitim' (olives) daily, in order to save their money to buy bullets for the eventual war. Without guile and completely honest.

These people think in generations, not years.

A friend of mine reminded me of a conversation she had with an Arab worker who was helping the Jewish construction company finishing her house.

He said Arabs have no trouble working on Jews' homes because they know that they will soon be theirs. When the 'liberation' comes, they will all lay claim to homes and buildings that they helped build.
