UNBELIEVABLE

CAPTION THIS PICTURE = A FREEPER EXCLUSIVE

At the Shibirgan prison, the Red Cross
-flush with a billion dollars from Americans
who THOUGHT they were donating to the victims of families murdered in the 911 Atrocities,
have the utter gall to give the money to the Taliban.
In this picture, Taliban fighters receive money from the Red Cross in Shibirgan.
Is there anyone left in the US who thinks all of the donated money went to the victims' families?

Who identified these men as Taliban fighters? Were they forcibly drafted into the Taliban? I heard a lot of that was done after we declared war on the Taliban.

The Red Cross claims it is giving ALL the American donations to the victims of 9/11. Bill O'Reilly (FOX News Network) should get this photo if you can document with more than just your say so.

How can you tell these are taliban? Where's the beard? How do you know the money came from the 911 donations? Was this picture even taken in Afghanistan? Those could be local red cross employees picking up their pay. Or they could be vendors being paid for services provide to the red cross. While the Red Cross is filled with bleeding hearts, it has to be transparent enough about where the money goes to generate donations. Wasn't Elizbeth Dole president of the Red Cross for awhile, I trust her.

Amaingly enough, this is the Reuters caption to this photo:
A former Taliban fighter receives money from Red Cross personnel prior to his release from the prison in the northern Afghan town of Shibirgan, some 130 km west of Mazar-i-Sharif, March 22, 2002. Hundreds of former Taliban fighters were freed in a goodwill gesture in Shibirgan on Friday, while thousands remain in apalling conditions in one of the country's most grisly prisons. Taliban fighters have beards, until they have been in prison and forced to remove head hair and beards. These fellows look like they have recently been shaved. Cuts down on the lice and other critters.

Don't forget the whole name of the organization:
RED CROSS/RED CRESCENT

Donations help fund organizations like the Palestinian Red Crescent Society,
which cranks out propaganda like this:

Israeli Army Shoots at Innocent Civilians & Pregnant Women

Isn't it comforting to know that the selfless contributions
of well-meaning Americans are going to support these "Red Crescent Societies"?

Large numbers of Americans and of America's institutions are behaving irrationally. Lest you think I am making rash allegations, who has forgotten der Maestro-Allen Greenspan's famous quote on exuberance in the market? Can sanity be restored? If so, how? These and other questions and hopefully some answers are being considered on another thread. Serious Discussions found here

Proof please.

There was a major run on razors following the fall of the Taliban. All men in Afghanistan, regardless of their place in the Taliban or in its army, were required by the Taliban to grow a beard. They were punished by the religious police if they shaved. There were a lot of itchy, pissed-off men wearing beards who hated getting beaten even more than going unshaved. With the fall of the Taliban, they rushed for their razors. In addition, guys who had been impressed into the Taliban army were eager to set themselves apart by shaving. Of course, other people in the army who had something to hide also were eager to set themselves apart.

Professional beard trimming is a clandestine business in Taliban-ruled Kabul, where shaving is a crime that can land you in jail or get you beaten.

Inside their homes, barbers trim the beards of the brave few who sneak a quick trim while getting a haircut.

The ban on shaving was imposed by the Taliban army - Islamic religious students turned guerrilla fighters - after it took control of Kabul in September 1996. They follow a strict version of Islamic law. "It is not just women who have suffered under the Taliban. . . . Men have also borne the brunt," said Zulmair Khan, who was having his beard trimmed. He said the beard interferes with his eating.

His frustration exceeded his fear of punishment.

"The Taliban can punish me for this, but this long beard - especially when it is untrimmed - really makes my life miserable," he said.

The job was done quickly and only after the barber posted his 8-year-old son as a sentry to watch for patrolling Taliban soldiers.

"Don't fall asleep. . . . Warn us if you see them," said Zahir, who gave only one name.

He snipped briskly, worrying his young son's vigilance would wane.

"Some men really beg and implore me to shorten their beards . . . so I have to take the risk," Zahir said.

He said he wasn't worried that Taliban authorities might be able to identify him from a news story, because his name is common in Afghanistan.

In Kabul, once a relatively sophisticated capital where European fashions were worn by the city's well-to-do, music has been banned by the Taliban along with most forms of light entertainment.

"Men miss even small things in life, which comes so normally everywhere else," Khan said while getting his beard trimmed.

The Taliban's no-shaving edict comes from their belief that Islam's prophet Mohammed ruled against shaving. Barbers have been given strict orders not even to touch a beard with a pair of scissors because it is "un-Islamic."

Taliban leaders also have their own idea of an "Islamic hair style," Zahir said.

The forehead should be free of hair so as not to interfere when a man prays and touches his forehead to his prayer mat. Center parting is fine and closely shaved in the back is best.

About 1,000 Taliban militiamen patrol the streets, often armed with steel wires, to beat any offender.

One shopkeeper, Innyat Ullah, said he misses the looser rules of the days of communist rule under late President Najibullah, who was hanged by the Taliban for prolonging the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan and contributing to the deaths of 1.5 million Afghans.

But for Ullah, those days were memorable for other reasons.

"I used to shave my beard daily . . ., wear trousers and live a normal life, but now all those days are a memory. The present is bitter and dark."

GRAPHIC: PHOTO Photo by THE ASSOCIATED PRESS - An Afghan barber, Zahir, trims Zulmair Khan's beard in Kabul last month. Trimming beards violates the strict Islamic law of the ruling Taliban militia, and both men could be punished.

NORTHERN ALLIANCE TAKES CAPITAL OF AFGHANISTAN WITH NO SUCCESSOR GOVERNMENT READY TO TAKE OVER

BODY: The Taliban army deserted the capital of Kabul at dawn today. Opposition forces from the northern alliance quickly filled the vacuum, riding into the capital in beat-up pickups.

----break to last section----

In other developments:

* Two French radio reporters and a German magazine journalist perished when they came under Taliban fire while traveling with the northern alliance, their employers said.

* As the Taliban retreated from Kabul, they took with them eight jailed foreign aid workers, two of them American. The eight are accused of trying to spread Christianity in Afghanistan.

* In newly freed Mazar-e-Sharif, residents threw off the strict religious rules of the Taliban. Many men shaved their beards (jacking up the price of razor blades), and many women set aside scarves and all-covering burqas.
