GEOSTRATEGY-DIRECT INTELLIGENCE BRIEF Sharon seeks OK from Bush on Arafat Wants written permission to capture or kill Palestinian leader

--- Posted: April 3, 2002 5:00 p.m. Eastern

© 2002 WorldNetDaily.com Expect further expansion of Israel's large-scale operation in the West Bank, for which the military has drafted more than 20,000 reservists and recalled all officers and soldiers on vacation.

But don't expect Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to destroy the Palestinian Authority or capture or kill its leader, Yasser Arafat. Instead, Sharon intends to drive Arafat crazy or out of the Palestinian areas into voluntary exile.

Why won't Sharon touch Arafat? An aide to the prime minister explains it this way: Sharon does not want to cross President George Bush regarding Arafat's fate. The two men have spoken often, the aide said, and Bush has supported just about every military operation against Arafat.

But Sharon wants more. He wants Bush to put it in writing that Arafat can be killed or captured.

"Bush has said all the right words to Sharon except 'Go kick his (Arafat) a--,'" the aide said. "The problem is Sharon wants Bush to give him a note as a teacher in kindergarten would. We've told Sharon that this will never happen."

Sharon is drawing on experience. In 1982, Sharon, then Israel's defense minister, believed he had obtained the green light from then-Secretary of State Alexander Haig for an Israeli offensive against Arafat in Lebanon. Haig later denied this and the United States never trusted Sharon again.

I can see Sharon now, "I got my NOTE!!" (visualize a gradeschooler presenting his teacher with his absentee note!)

Why put America in this position? Shoot first and then ask questions. If Bush backs down he will be ridiculed and if he authorize this all Americans might as well strap on targets because America could be next to see a wave of terrorist bombers.

This report is dubious. No President would commit such authorization to a written statement. It is doubtful any world leader would expect or even ask for it, either.

Nah..I don't believe Sharon would ask for this.

And, more importantly Bush wouldn't give it.

Bush is on Sharon's side. They are working hand-in-glove. Bush is no doubt as glad to have the Israelis on hand to deal with Arafat and Hezbollah as he was to have the services of the Northern Alliance to eliminate the Taliban and crush al-Qaeda. This whole operation is also a useful protype for the removal of Saddam. I suspect that, when that day comes, we will want too take Saddam hostage rather than kill him outright: that would achieve our strategic objectives while reducing the risk of retaliation by his sleepers.

Gee joe---bet that took a long time to compile. In fact, I bet al gore could barely do better, considering if flunked out of both LAW school and DIVINITY SCHOOL (divinity school-lol-I mean-you must have to be really stupid to flunk out of divinity school). But then President Bush, Yale graduate and Harvard Business School graduate, a President who has yet to take a poll to see what to do like billy clinton did nearly every week (lol-gotta stay popular, ya know! Hehe, seems to handling the Middle Eastern standard crisis with the brilliance of a military expert.

Brilliant to wait. Brilliant to expose to the world exactly how the two sides respond and how ruthless each is willing to be. Brilliant to under stand that there is no peace without full agreement to conditions, and EXTREMELY brilliant to have stopped the games being played in their tracks.

It is great to have a REAL MAN, a man who LOVES God and knows how to model this love for his nation, doing just the right thing despite the fact that people(?) like you inhabit this free land of ours.

Sharon should remember the old rule.

It's always better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Even Machiavelli knew that one.
