[history]
A series of bills to relax handgun laws in Tennessee, including one to allow people with permits to carry a concealed weapon into places where liquor is sold, were shunted aside yesterday and are apparently dead for the year.
All of the bills, sponsored by state Rep. Ben West, D-Hermitage, were sent to a summer study subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee.

To be entirely fair, Tennesee is a very gun-friendly state, this bill-tabling nonwithstanding.
From a former resident of New York State and a present resident of Illinois, my saliva glands work overtime when I think about Tennesee.

Yes, Laz, TN is truly a gun-friendly state. The only states bordering TN that don't recognize our permits are AL and NC. Kind of a pain, but at least the states I visit most have reciprocity. It's nice to be able to go to Atlanta and be able to confidently carry in that hell-hole. It's also nice because my family owns a condo in Destin, FL and I can carry down there too, although it's a very safe area.

Wish they'd get it with ILL. My brother-in-law lives there and we visit often. It's a pain in the caboose to pack the guns up when we cross from IN where our son lives to go 20 miles to visit the brother-in-law in Ill where we can't carry.
