Two true patriots indeed-Lee Marvin and Bob Keeshan. I would have never guessed that Captain Kangaroo once fought in WW II in the Pacific Theater. Like they say, you learn something new every day, and that makes me feel very patriotic inside as a former Marine myself that served until 1998. God bless these fine people. Does anyone else remember the occasion when Captain Kangaroo, thinking the LIVE cameras had shut down at the conclusion of the show

They were both Marines, but I think that Lee Marvin got the Purple Heart at Saipan and not the Navy Cross at Iwo.

Hmmm, I suspect that this is a urban legend as Bob Keeshan wasn't born until June 1927. Putting his age to be barely 18 by 1945.

But Lee Marvin was a WWII vet.
