3/12/2002 5:49:00 PM PAT GREEN FORCED TO CANCEL CORPUS CHRISTI SHOW Pat Green has canceled his concert on March 12 in Corpus Christi, Texas. The show was scheduled to be held at the Concrete Street Amphitheatre, but is officially called off.

Green was assaulted by two men, while he, his wife, and members of the band were on the beach at South Padre Island early on Monday evening March 11. He suffered multiple facial fractures. He spent Monday night in a local hospital and is still being treated today.

Due to his injuries and the severe pain relating to those injuries, he is unable to appear as scheduled. As of this writing, there is no word yet on a make up date, but tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.

The primary assailant is in police custody and charges are pending.

Upcoming shows on Friday on South Padre Island and on Saturday at the Star of Texas Rodeo in Austin are still on the schedule. A decision on these shows will be forthcoming pending Green's recovery.

Primary suspect is only 18 years old. Must have caught Pat off-guard because Pat's a big guy. He allegedly broke Pat's cheekbone and beat him up pretty bad. Drunken spring breakers up to no-good is my theory.

He should have been armed.

Probably wouldn't have helped him to be armed. From the sounds of it, I think this guys blind-sided him. Now if one of his friends or family members would have been armed, it would have been a different headline. No details on how it happened yet, but I do know his band personally, so I'm sure I'll find out in the near future.

My local paper says Green was only hit once. It says Green, his wife, and a male friend were walking along and met the assailant walking towards them. The assailant punched Green once and Green fell to the ground. Then the assailant began hitting the other man.

Green was admitted to the hospital and released the next day.

We avoid South Padre Island during Spring Break. It isn't worth the hassle. During Spring Break it can take hours to cross a 2 mile causeway. And it's the only way on and off the island. But it will be over soon. This is Texas week and it's the busiest of all. After this week the island will be getting back to normal soon.

Just so no one gets the wrong impression, even though it's Texas week, the assailant is not a Texan.

He could have taken one punch instead of many if he were armed. However, I agree that his wife and friends should have been armed too.

Who's Pat Green? Are you sure you're from Texas?

He's a country singer/writer who waxes poetic about Texas. Just got a Nashville deal and hopes to score. His big audience is college aged.

These two Aggies came up to me one day and said "Hey, guess what....we are going to the sun". I said "Hey, aren't you guys going to burn to a crisp?" They said, "No problem, we are going to go at night!"

Try to, at least, be original if you are going to post Ag jokes.

Actually, Pat green is more like alternative country. Like if college radio met country radio or something.

Meant sarcastically, I presume. There are more rock stations than C & W in Houston, and ZZ Top got a very large crowd at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, though not as big as George Strait (sp?). Quite a few cowboys are rockers!

Sure wish ZZ woulda played my favorite, "Can't Stop Rockin'".
