JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday said World War III would erupt in the subcontinent if the international community failed to pressurise Pakistan to stop cross-border terrorism.
"Pakistan has to behave and call a halt to terrorism as per the wishes of the civilised world, or else the third world war will erupt in the subcontinent," Abdullah said addressing a mammoth election rally at Nagrota, near here.
He said the international community was united and had vowed to rid the world from the menace of terror and Islamabad should take concrete steps in this direction. "Otherwise, humanity will continue to bleed, as Kashmir has been for over a decade."
Referring to Pakistan's malicious propaganda against India, especially in the Muslim world about the plight of their brethren in Kashmir, Abdullah said when he was in Mecca as the leader of Indian Haj delegation last year, he had apprised heads of various nations about the level of freedom to preach and practice religion by the dominant Muslim community in the valley, fully exposing Islamabad's bluff.
"Now the world knows who is guilty of perpetrating terrorism," he said, adding the al-Qaeda cadres and other dreaded ultras were trained in Pakistan.
Cross-border terrorism has caused havoc with peace loving people of Jammu and Kashmir in the last 12 years and the agonies of border inhabitants have increased manifold due to continuous shelling from across the border, he added.
That happened on 9/11.

Now I know, that it will take until May or August of this year to get fully under way, but when one looks at the Mideast or the Muslim world generally it is hard to see how we will be able to hold it off till then.
