What is the best way to approach our opposition to HR 2356?
by 'best' i mean what should we tell our Reps/Senators/Presidnet to prevent this from becoming law .. what wording in our letters, emails, and phone calls will get them vote NO / Veto.. this issue????? What will make them fear losing in the next election if they support this issue????
David Osborne's petition to his congressman

please post your suggestions here .. forward the best ideas to everyone on your email lists and get them to take action NOW
It's an easy and principled case to make.
The downside is that they then have to pass what remains.
All I can do at this point is prepare myself for the president's Rose Garden ceremony---and hope the 180 degree change in my support for him will be temporary and short-lived.
Mini-Editorial:
Folks, all of us, when lauding, promoting, or referring to Free Republic to lurkers or browsers or the curious, ought to make a point of showing them- perhaps by emailing the link to it- the bump list.
With the admonition, "See how much you have not been told about? Now think of what you may have missed, because it simply was not talked about...."

Frankly, I've always found a telephone call to be about as effective as anything- always be unstintingly courteous, but firm.
Letters that are one page long, neatly typed with footers, seem to get passed around staff more that multi-page missives. Don't overdo sarcasm, jokes, or clever nicknames- one or two, at the most, and if doubtful- don't.
The anthrax scare has breathed new life into faxes and emails, but a lot go unread, except for judging the direction of public opinion.
Reflect, if there was no finance laws on the books, and I gave a billion dollars (thats a [B]) to support the candidate who wants to amend the Constitution to allow slavery, would that candidate win?
I just wish I weren't so weary of what nine times out of ten turns out to be futile and demoralizing.
Okay...one more time.
The parts which outlaw and/or greatly restrict "(3) ELECTIONEERING COMMUNICATION".
Politically, the rest will probably have to be accepted, and is arguably Constitutional- though bad law which will just be cheated as usual.
how about approaching it from an angle similar to this.. please feel free to critique.. just an initial thought that could help to build support in the public arena"
Please oppose (veto if necessary) HR 2356. It is unconstitutional and takes away my ability to get my viewpoint out by contributing money to groups that then spend that money in ways this bill outlaws. Please stand for the ability of the people to join together so that their opinions can be heard in the political areana.
any ideas??? if we all put together all of our ideas we can probably find some effective wording.. we know how libs (with the complicit media) try to make america they care about the 'little man'.. what can we focus on that will either force them to report it or will show people their hipocracy
