Anti-Semitism decreasing in France. Until september 2000, when the new intifada began. The authorities are still speaking of acts of vandalism, but the French Jews are worried.
PARIS - The Oza Hatorz-school in Créteil is almost a fortress. The building and the small playing ground are outlined with a thick fence, and camera's are pointed towards two locked gates. An Israeli man with a radio is patrolling the area. He points to the place where about a month ago a fire bomb was thrown over the fence. Nobody was hurt, but a room burt out.
Ozar Hatora is a Jewish school in a suburb from Paris. The fire bomb was part of a series of 'incidents' (that is what the French police call it) that occured in France, prompting the Israeli government to summon the French ambassador in Jeruzalem and file an official complaint of the increasing anti-Semitism in France.
A few exaples: on 2 November 2001 a Molotov-coctail started a fire in a synagoge in France, on 1 December the rabbi from Rouen is threatened with a baton (club) when he left the synagoge, on 19 December a conferance in the university of Nanterre 'Auschwitz and beyond' was cancelled after threats were recieved. On 6 January the schoolbus from the Jewish Chné Or school in Aubervilliers was hit by rock-throwers.
Roger Cukierman, chairman from the Crif (Conseil représentatif des institutions juives de France, an umbrella organization of Jewish foundations), made a statement on the French news-broadcast after the Ozar Hatoraz-school incident: "This violence is not carried out by right-extremists, but by members of the islamic people in France. These attacks are following the wave of terror in the Middle East."
Statistics confirm this statement: they show an explosive increase in the number of attacks of religious violence. The attacks are supposed to be carried out by French people, originating from Arabic countries that are using the situation in the Middle East to express their anger that arises from their own desperate situation.
The chairman of the Consistorie from Paris, Moïse Cohen: "We are witnessing the arrival of a new form of islamic based hate of Jews. Nor the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, nor the state of desperation that is present with the youths in the districts, justify the storm of hatred aimed at the Jewish community since 15 months."
Cohen spoke on a protest-meeting in Créteil. Hij praised the Jewish youths in France for their restraint. "Imagine that the Jews in France would attack a mosque or koranschool. Everybody would dissaprove it, the politicians and the media would condemn us", he said, suggesting that the same politicians and media would not speak out as long as Jews are the victims.
De Crif and the Consistorie are very indignant about the, in their vision, laxity that the French authorities show. They try to cover up the connection between the incidents by portaying them as vandalism. Perpetrators of earlier attacks aimed at Jewish foundations or persons were only convicted for 'acts of violence'. On paper there is no sign of a dangerous trend.
Roger Cukierman has filed a formal protest with president Chirac, during a meeting of religious leaders at the Elysee. Chirac then would have suggested that the Jewish community should not seek so much publicity about thesse 'incidents', because that would only encourage the perpetrators. A spokesman from Elysee denies these accusations.
At the Créteil police station they think it isn't as bad as described. A police-officer that wants to remain anonymous, says that there are these 'incidents', and that there are 'increasing tensions between the islamic and Jewish communities', but: "France is a tolerant country, the Jewish community does not have to worry about anything. A thing as a fire bomb, like at Ozar Hatoraz, that is the work of a young instignator." The school and synagoge have asked for permanent police security. "That is not neccesary. But we did get the order to do more surveillances in that neighborhood."
But the school is located in a pedestrian area, almost hidden from view, and cars cannot reach the area. The Israeli man that guards the fence from the school claims that the police is not doing anything. "If they did, I would not have to be here. But the problems with the muslims are very big. We need to protect ourselves, it is not safe here."
Also I find is strange that when a mosque is vandalized, it gets on the frontpages and news on TV, directly calling it a hate-crime. Why isn't anyone giving a d_mn about these sort of attacks? Aren't they hate-crimes?
After 9/11 a lot of young Moroccans in the Netherlands sided with Osama bin Laden. They thought of him as a freedom fighter, on a Moroccan forum a thread call "Support the Taliban" appeared and was not removed!. In Ede, Moroccan youths went out to the streets to celebrate the 9/11 atacks! But after the defeat of the Taliban thay are turning to the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.
If islam is a religion of peace and tolerance, they may d_mn well start showing it!
Chirac: There are no Anti-Semites in France
(Does anyone knows where classygreeneyedblonde is these days?)
Anti-Semitism: Frances National Shame
France the "worst Western country" for anti-semitism: Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister
That's the problem. If skinheads and not peaceful Muslims were doing this, it would be major news.
I was wondering what pinhead said that--and now you've helped me remember it wsa Chirac.
If the authorities do not actively pursue the perpetrators, if the mayor does not hold a press conference strongly condemning these acts(like he would if a moaque was torched) he is sending a tacit message-Islamic Kristalnacht has arrived.
I don't know, Patria One. Why don't you tell us.
3- French At It Again The French Foreign Minister lambasted President Bush and U.S. foreign policy in an interview, published on Etim, the Israeli News Service. U.S. policy and President Bush were called,
Voice of Judea Commentary:
The recent acts of anti-Semitism raging throughout France is only a mirror image of some French leaders, who are as treasonous and as treachorous as they were during World War II.
Cohen is afraid something like this may happen again if the police takes action. He rather lets innocent people be victomized than criminals be punished, a Dutch tradition as it seems.

I'll help her out: Foe. Definitely foe :).

Group-rape of girl cover up in Holland - an update
They can't see, or they don't want to? It might have been fine for France to be taken over by Hitler, but it wasn't fine for the Jews who lived in France at the time.
