18. Florida is not considered a southern state. There are far more Yankees than Southerners living there.

You are talking about South Florida (i.e. Palm Beach County, Broward, Miami Dade). That is another country. Orlando north is the South. Believe it!

I live in Longwood (just moved here from occupied Boston) and it seems pretty Southern to me.

My wife and I drove down here from Boston and I have to say as a former northerner that southerners are some of the most gentile, refined, polite, friendly people I've met. People actually say hello to you when you pass them walking down the street. I will never live north of the mason-dixon again!

There's a saying in Florida, "The further south you go, the further north you get." The panhandle is sometimes affectionately known as Lower Alabama. Miami is NYC with sand and the sharks are not the courtroom variety.
