Rainbow Bridge
A Friend | 28 December 01 | Unknown

For all out there who have had and lost a dog. This happend to me yesterday, when my 12 year old Akita who was my best friend and walking companion. Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... I loved and will miss my KoKo very much and I wrote this with tears in my eyes.

My condolences on your loss. Considering the amount of joy and peace conferred by pets I can not imagine heaven without them.

Koko will be waiting for you, my friend, never to be parted from you ever again . . . and to pass the time, there are all those other dogs to play and run with, and so very many chew toys!

I'm crying for you, and my Boston terrier Salty leans against you and licks your face.

I know what you're going through. I lost my brittany 'Scout' two years ago and the only cure for me was to get another.

We lost both our dogs (Max and Chaucer) within three months of each other two years ago. Someone sent me that then and darned if it didn't bring tears to my eyes reading it again.

I'm sorry you have lost your pet, I still keep a picture on my dressing table of my very loved pet, Toy Star, she has been gone for 12 years now, it stirs memories now and then of just how special and funny she was, too special to ever forget.

So sorry to hear about your loss. they indeed weave their way into our hearts. I received this when I had to put a pet of mine down. Hope the coming year brings another pet into your life, not to replace KoKo, but to fill some of the space she/he left behind.

Subject: FW: Dogs vrs Heaven

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that his faithful dog had been dead for many years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. As he reached the wall, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch, and the street that led to the gate made from pure gold.

He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"

"This is heaven, sir," the man answered.

"Wow! Would you happen to have some water? We have traveled far," the man said.

"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up."

The man gestured, and the gate began to open. "Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.
> >"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment, remembering all the years this dog remained loyal to him and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going.

After another long walk he came to a plain dirt road, which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.

As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water? We have traveled far."

"Yes, sure, there's a faucet over there." The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in and help yourself."

"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to his dog
"There should be a bowl by the faucet; he is welcome to share."

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned faucet with a bowl beside it.

The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them.

"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.

"This is heaven," was the answer. "Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was heaven, too."

"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell."

"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"

"No. We're just happy that they screen out the folks who'd leave some of their best friends behind in exchange for material things."
