Steve Snyder's moment of truth came on Nov. 19 at about 5:30 a.m.

He was lying on a bed in a hotel room in Palu, a small city on Sulawesi, a pinwheel-shaped Indonesian island straddling the equator. He wondered: Should he and his companions venture further into the island's war-torn interior?

Sudan has been in the Washington Times for years and it's made no difference.

They are being slaughtered today, a few lines of print don't add up to much help.

"Some 2,700 have been ferried off these islands secretly by boat, Mr. Snyder said, but another 6,000 remain. One of his organization's goals is to ship money to Indonesian Christians with boats, who have the wherewithal to bring their trapped brethren to safety."

To heck with that, I'd say if ever there was an opportunity for the "School of the Americas", this is it! Send some CIA goons over there to aid, train, and equip these people to defend themselves against these bandits in filthy nightgowns!

"Joanna Milosz of the London-based Christian Solidarity Worldwide says that in her travels around central Indonesia, she has found that many moderate Muslims want nothing to do with the Laskar Jihad. But they are afraid to say anything," she says. "The whole Moluccas conflict has been fraught with misinformation from the beginning. The Western press goes overboard in being sensitive to the Muslim community. They do not want to be Islamophobic, so they ignore the realities of the situation."

Their silence and cowardice is the same as aiding and abetting the more militant Islamofascists. They don't even realize that after the the Koranazis are done with the Christians, their next target will be muslims who aren't muslim enough...

I've told this to most politically correctness-obsessed liberals, and they're nauseatingly indifferent about it for the most part. It's reflective of their "Christophobia"...since it's mostly Christians being mutilated and massacred, they can't take up the bullhorns because all their Berzerkley-esque buddies will shun them, because everyone knows Christianity is the "white devil's religion"!

My feelings exactly. Why can't we arm these Christians? I mean why won't we?

Then they need to be told what UTTER fools they are! They must feel pretty secure in the idea that the islames will not target them because they're not 'Christian'...? Ask them if they REALIZE that ANYthing NOT belonging to the islame cult is considered an enemy, in need of conversion/death.

I often wonder WHY such atrocities occur with great frequency in those foreign countries...WHY it's not so common in THIS country. Could it be the 2nd Amendment is a hindrance to the bloodbaths?

Mr. Snyder is now back in town trying to interest members of Congress in the fate of a Christian minority in an overwhelmingly Muslim country. The ongoing religious wars around Sulawesi and the Moluccan islands to the east have displaced 500,000 people.

The Western press goes overboard in being sensitive to the Muslim community. They do not want to be Islamophobic, so they ignore the realities of the situation.

If there ever was a situation calling for covert Special Forces training teams and arms assistance, this is it.

But our liberals don't care, because it's only Christians being slaughtered, and our government won't step on Indonesian toes.

The only help they will get will be lines of print and a few very brave outside witnesses slipping in to observe and report on the massacres.

If private individuals tried to assist them without permission from the CIA, I doubt they would last long, or even make it ashore without being arrested.

But after Sudan, what makes you think anything will be done about it?
