Neil is his own man. As MTV was taking over music and Phil Collins and Eric Clapton were being bought and paid for by a beer company, Neil wrote "This Note's for You" with its blatantly anti-corporate sponsorship lyrics and filmed a video mocking Clapton, Michael Jackson, etc. At first MTV tried to reject it, then played it, then named it the video of the year!

When asked by an enviro-whacko interviewer in the early '70's where he would be when the revolution against technology and capitalismbegan, Neil answered "on my ranch with my guns."

Neil doesn't worry about marketing. No pyrotechnics on stage (except the music), no fancy stage costumes, and no worry about music trends. In the '80's he recorded one of the first techno albums (Trans), followed it with pure country (Old Ways, for which Geffen Records sued him for making an album "uncharacteristic of Neil Young), a rockabilly album (the Shocking Pinks LP), and a big band blues album (Ten Men Working). Throw in some hard rock and he was all over the place. In the midst of the grunge movement he put out an all-acoustic affair (Harvest Moon).

Neil wrote "Ohio" within 24 hours of the incident, and it was recorded in two or three days. And, yes, its on the So Far LP.

Matt and Trey have said for years that they were Republicans and that they supported Bush for President. Sadly the Libertalibans always tried to claim them as their own.

What's up with calling the libertarians libertalibans? The libertarians are basically conservatives WITHOUT the religious mania. You can look to the republicans for religious extremism, not the libertarians.

Scratch a liberal, get a facist.

Scratch a libertarian, get a stalinist.

[And no, I'm not joking.]

Alice Cooper (KISS)

I don't believe KISS would have anything to do with Alice Cooper. It was probably the walking ego trip Gene Simmons.

To be honest, I don't care whether they're card-carrying members of the Republican National Committee, or of the Libertarian Party, or anywhere in between. All that matters is that they're CONSERVATIVE.

Yeah. He looks dangerous. Unclean certainly and probably a commie. He's definately used marijuana in his day. How surprising then that he'd come out in favor of giving up constitutional protections in exchange for magic beans (aka SFA). I thought only good, God-fearing, Christian Republicans came out in favor of exchanging essential liberty for the pretense of security.

Yeah, well, the sight of Neil Young has always made me a little jittery.

But that aside, didn't you used to... you know... weren't you someone who could... ah... how do I ask this? I remember there being a little less sclera showing around your irises when engaged in dialogue. Am I thinking of someone else?

Dan

I beleive it was 91, at the DD. Neil was in the zone. Not bad at his age. I sat in front of some younger guys who proclaimed "Neil is god". That night he and the Horse blew everyone away. Crime in the City....................

I believe it was the Ragged Glory Tour.

"Like a Hurricane" is one of my all time fav's.

Alls well in the plastic fantastic suburbs of North Raleigh.

Now all he has to do is apologize to us Southerners for his slurs against the South in some of his lyrics

Ronnie van Zandt set him straight 25 years ago.....ol Neil was so moved that he wrote Powderfinger for them...but alas they met their fate in that doomed Dakota.

Let's see, how do I pretend to put this in the most delicate possible way, but still make the point I'm..., well, here goes: I seem to detect a little lack of grey matter in your posts. Did you accidentally post without reading or thinking?

While I commonly decry the thuggish, hypocritical, anti-constitutional, tyrannical nature of the War on Drugs, if you are intimating that taking such a position makes me a "druggie", or if you are suggesting that I have ever submitted a message on this board whilst drunk, stoned or otherwise drugged, you are "mistaken".

It's good that you are a good, right-wing, Christian though, otherwise I might have thought you were trying to take a cheap shot.
