"This exalting of prayer to a magical force bothers me. That isn't the role the Bible gives it."

Amen Dan!

Trouble is who knows the Bible?

Church can drive a guy nuts!

God bless

That's right. There's not enough revival, because there's not enough prayer. Okay, so we pray, "Lord, please send revival, to your glory in Christ. Amen." God says, "No, not enough." So we pray, "Lord, please send revival to the North American continent, to your glory in Christ Jesus. Amen." "Not enough." Okay, "Lord, in this year of 2001, we would really appreciate it if...."

See, that's what I think this sort of writing implies. It seems to imply to me that it's the length of our prayers that makes God do what we want.

Now, if I know and love someone, to me it's a sign of the health and intimacy of our relationship that, while I am free to go on and on if I need to about some burden or distress (or success), I don't need to, because he already knows me so well, and already is disposed towards me in love.

Now, which is the more Biblical perspective?

Oh but I forget, he already sort of downplayed the Bible.

Yeah, I can see why, maybe.

Dan
