The Harborplace merchant fatally stabbed last night outside her upper-level accessories shop in the Light Street Pavilion was identified by police today as Ana Kilic of the 800 block of S. Charles St.

City police spokeswoman Ragina C. Averella said the woman's former husband, Imamali Kilic, 36, of the 1300 block of Hull St. has been charged with first-degree murder in the 28-year-old's death. He is being held at the Central Booking and Intake Center.

If only one armed citizen was available, this poor woman would still be alive. Another victim of Maryland's anti self-defense laws. It is nearly impossible for a law-abiding in Maryland to get a permit to carry.

Why not sue the state of Maryland on behalf of the victim, for denying citizens the right to protect themselves with weapons ?
The surviving members of the victim's family could sue.
An advocacy group serving as an ombudsman could carry the mantle as well.
I am suggesting a tactical shift here, by the 2nd amendment folks.
Every time someone unarmed is killed in a state that denies the right to carry concealed weapons on one's person, file a lawsuit against the state responsible.
I mean isn't this what the opposition does when the shoe is on the other foot ?
Wouldn't this open up a whole new front ?
It is, in my humble opinion a strategy that hasn't been tried yet ?
Has it ?
It's simplistic in theory.
It wouldn't be easy, by any stretch of the imagination but, wouldn't a jury grasp the complicity of a state using it's powers to deny it's citizens the right to self defense ?
We all know about ridiculous and frivolous lawsuits that have been filed, argued, and in many cases won, over things that are far less lethal.

Sound off like you got a pair !!!

Hideous evil.

In Texas the perp would have been thoroughly shot and the woman might have been saved.

Marylanders need to get their rights back.

I'm going to take a wild guess that these other two alleged "victims", were perps who ran into law abiding citizens who understood what "shall not be infringed" means, and chose not to become victims. Too bad Ana Kilic didn't.

With homicides occurring at a rate of more than one a day -- a dozen since last Friday -- Baltimore clergy members and Mayor Martin O'Malley announced plans yesterday to hold a "Peace for the City" rally against violence

Oh yeah, that will help! Don't get me wrong, I think prayer is very powerful, but a stun gun or a pistol would have helped that woman in Harborplace a hell of a lot more than prayer. I think it is noteworthy that so many came to her aid. Is this a trend since 9/11?

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
