Putin: Clinton Wasn't Interested in Fighting Terrorism
In comments guaranteed to raise eyebrows on both sides of the Atlantic, Russian President Vladimir Putin said late Wednesday he was disappointed that ex-President Bill Clinton seemed so uninterested in combating worldwide terrorism.
"I wouldn't want to go into any assessments of my colleagues," Putin first told ABC's "20/20" host Barbara Walters in an exclusive interview.
But then the former KGB agent revealed his dismay over Clinton's attitude toward the terrorist threat.
"The former president of the United States ... was in a very difficult situation. But even at that time, we certainly were counting on a more active cooperation in combating international terrorism."
Putin lamented the missed opportunity, suggesting the possibility that the events of Sept. 11 might have been avoided had circumstances been different.
"I don't know whether it would have been possible to prevent these strikes on the United States by the terrorists, but it was a pity that our special services didn't get the information on time and warn the American people and the American political leadership about the tragedy that came to pass."
Since Osama bin Laden's attacks on the U.S. two months ago, Clinton has repeatedly insisted he did everything he could in the war on terrorism, though former Clinton aides admit he was frequently preoccupied with the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal in the last two years of his term.

What more can be said? This is what 8 years of corruption does. The Demonrats have American blood on their hands.

I wonder how & how long it will be until the bubba machine spins that?
Or will they even have to? Will the mainstream media even pick up on this?

Did a search before I posted. Did not come up. I cut and pasted the title in the search box. I did not just search on Putin. If you don't like the double post delete it. If people post with the proper article description, this type of thing would not happen.

I wouldn't have this if it hadn't been posted here now.

Maybe you'd prefer people just didn't post at all.
These "already posted here" "there" "25 times" are more annoying than the duplicate posts.
I prefer more than one post...that way I can see various points of view instead of the politically correct one...In fact, I "thought" that's what FR was all about.

They will spin it- it wasn't Clinton's fault he was preoccupied- it was our fault because we thought that perjury and abuse of office was a bad thing.

Instead of complaining about double posts, people should post links to the other threads. That would be a helpful thing to do.

Tolstoy had a great line that I keep throwing at the soft-backboned people I work with:
You might not be interested in War, but War is interested in you.

The Freeper search function does not like phrases. Try a single word.

How does dividing the traffic discussing a story between two posts of the exact same article, instead of having all discussion in one post, aid you to see more than one perspective?
And on a completely different note, what is Putin's motive for saying this? I mean, I don't doubt what he said, but my guess is that guys on this level don't say anything without it having a purpose. What was Putin's, and why?

Amen, that always solves the problem. BTTT!

The idea of FR is discussion. Why doesn't it make more sense to have all the discussion in one thread? If the discussion is split into three threads, it's easy to miss pertinant points.
So you want each article posted once for people who think one way and again for people who think another way? Doesn't sound at all like FR to me....

Ummmm, let me guess? He was too busy 'trying to get things behind him', or 'too busy trying to move on', or 'too busy working for the children', or 'too busy being America's first black president', or blah blah blah.....
IMHO, his inactions (and those of Madeline) resulted in about 5000 deaths and that fact needs to be placed squarely on his shoulders, either legally or morally.

"I wouldn't want to go into any assessments of my colleagues," BUT!!!!
Heard on ABC radio news tonight that Putin said he felt a sense of guilt over not being able to do something about it. More than we'll ever get out of Clinton.

I didn't see it the first time it was posted and am glad it was posted. There is nothing wrong with posting information as one finds it.. Your reply was very rude.
