As far as a lot of countries are concerned, the Taliban has NEVER functioned as a legitimate government. It looks as though we are being successful at "smoking them out of their caves and bringing them to justice"!

FOXNEWS: Taliban NO LONGER FUNCTIONING AS GOVERNMENT Gee, does that mean that they will cease beating their women and hiding behind the women and the kids?? That's not MY idea of how a "Government" should function in the first place!

TY for the heads' up. I wish I could get Fox again. =] While this is a historic moment, it's no great surprise. How could their govt function much longer with this kind of war going on? We are the Eagle. We swoop down and are gone before they have time to react. Our electronic eyes see far beyond what people can comprehend. We come in for the kill at our leisure. Thank God we still have what we have.
But still, the formerly invincible Afghans are fearless and determined people, with a cave network elaborate enough to thwart the USSR forever. So, while the government collapsed, the war continues.
Freegards....

I guess they won't be having that Pablo Casals state dinner anytime soon. The horrors of war!

The Taliban were never functioning as a working government anyway.
What services did they provide? Stoning women who dared to peek out of their garb? Making women give up their professions? Killing anybody, any time for any reason?
A bunch of radical extremists living in the year 900.

Gee, does that mean that they will cease beating their women and hiding behind the women and the kids?? Sadly the vile and disgusting Taliban will probably increase their murderous ways, till we eliminate them. Watched an MSNBC docu on these animals yesterday, they are the scum of the earth.

Breaking? This is the HISTORY of the Taliban. In fact, they never succeeded in establishing anything resembling a legitimate government. They were just the strongest thugs on the block for a while. Now there's a new sheriff in town.

What effect will this have on the war against them? Will more Afghnanis rise up now? Do Afghanis even
know that the Taliban has fallen as their "government"?
While this sounds like some type of progress is being made, I'd like some specifics!
To: ROCKLOBSTER
Will Pakistan cease to recognize them as a formal government now? (LOL)

Did they ever? I'd say they were "governing" when they were murdering women in the soccer stadium.
