DiFrancesco: No endorsement; McGreevey leads Schundler by 18 points in new poll

DiFrancesco: No endorsement, it's personal
Acting Governor Donald DiFrancesco said today that there would be no 11th hour endorsement of Republican Bret Schundler for Governor, saying that his differences with his former opponent were "personal." DiFrancesco made his comments during a taping of News 12's Campaign New Jersey with Laura Jones and Jim McQueeny that will air on Saturday at 11:00am, 3:00pm, and 10:30pm and on Sunday at 11:00am, 3:00pm, and 6:30pm. Also on the show: Democratic State Chairman Joe Roberts and Republican State Chairman Joe Kyrillos, Schundler campaign manager Bill Pascoe, and former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Michael Murphy. McGreevey leads Schundler by 18 points in new poll
Democrat Jim McGreevey leads Republican Bret Schundler by a 53%-35% margin in the race for Governor, according to a Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll released today. 12% of the voters remain undecided. In the race for the Assembly 41% say they’ll vote for the Democrat candidates and 36% say they’ll vote for Republicans. McGreevey has a solid base inside his party, with 85% of self-described Democrats making McGreevey their choice. Among self-described Republicans 17% say they will vote for McGreevey and 6% are undecided. Republican support for GOP state legislative candidates is actually higher than Republican support for the Republican’s ticket-leader: 81% of self-identified Republicans say they will vote for Republican candidates for the state’s legislature. Dr. Bruce Larson, professor of political science at Fairleigh Dickinson University, said “a fractured Republican party cannot win a state-wide race.”

Dems portray Schundler as Terrorist
From: Balcer.com

June of 2001, the national and local press reported a story of arms deal and money involving three Jersey City residents. At the arrest of one of the suspects, Mohammed Rajaa Malik told the press he was active in Bret Schundler's campaign. However, Schundler denies knowing him. Malik is a popular figure. He was member of the Zoning Board under Mayor Cucci and Mayor McCann Administrations. Former Mayor McCann described Malik as a "political hang-on." Malik's store was across the street (it is now being turned into housing). Malik even donated $1,000 to Schundler for governor. However, Schundler' press said, "For the record: Bret Schundler wouldn't be able to pick Mohammed Rajaa Malik out of a two-man lineup. These comments are amazing, After public meetings, I often went to Malik's store. We had many conversations. We talked about Schundler and his policies. Malik was articulated in his information. In fact, Malik had a photo hanging in his store of himself and Mayor Schundler. Malik supported Schundler and gave the donation because he was hoping that Governor Schundler would his restore lottery license. The state took away his machine some years ago. The most troubling aspect of this incident is Schundler holding on to Malik's money. Only after, I made a comment to the newspaper (Jersey Journal) stating that Schundler should return the money that Schundler returned Malik's donation. Where is his own sense of moral obligation?

Get Ready for it guys. We will lose New Jersey by a double digit margin in the final vote tally. We will lose Virginia by about 3 or 4 percentage points, and we will lose New York by a smaller margin than expected a week ago, from 5 to 8 percent. The Democrats will take all 4 eletions (These three and Los Angeles ->Jim Hahn) this years. In my opinion, in New Jersey as much as I like Schundler, it was almost impossible for him to win in a Left-Wing state and the fact that Bush did not campaign for him, McGreevey has been campaigning for the past 4 years, and DiFrancesco and almost 18 percent of Republicans are not supporting Schundler did not help.

In Virginia, Earley did not capitalize on the Republican leanings of the state and the budget battle did not help. This governorship was for us to lose.

Commie New York has no hope of electing a Republican, they have a turncoat that is running on the ballot

"DiFrancesco is a real putz."

Yeah he is. He should put personal feelings aside and come out and endorse him. If he's acting governor why didn't he run?

DiFrancesco is not running because he is a crook and ought to be in jail. He is blaming Schundler for releasing all the dirt on him when he first annouced. He and Toricelli have the same problem.....they belong in jail.

I think Mr. DeFrancesco needs to get a Big Damn Grip! He doesn't need to gush personally about Schundler, he just needs to remind people that the state would be better off with a Repub. Governor; unless he doesn't really believe that, then maybe someone from the Natl. Repub. Party needs to have a 'come to Jesus' meeting with him to explain how the money keeps rolling in for those who help, but can dry up pretty quick for those who tend to get snippy!

It's over. We have lost. Bush doing something wouldn't have helped anyway.

Donnie DiFrancesco is the President of the State Senate. Since NJ has no Lt. Governor, if there's a vacancy in the Governor's office, the President of the State Senate becomes the Acting Governor, while retaining his seat in the Legislature.

It is clear that in those states at least, Sept. 11 has not caused a change from liberal to conservative.

I fear that you are right. The Democratic Party is beating our brains out this year. We have to do better.

You mean the Repubs have control of the state senate but Schundler is polling that badly?

I vote based on ideas, not political parties. If I had a choice between a pro-gun, pro-life libertarian, or a RINO, that would be an easy decision for me.
