Willow Creek Church Invites Muslim to Preach to Saints- Bill Hybels "Islam Not Religion of Violence"

Willow Creek Church Welcomes Muslim Cleric's Perspective

Following the Sept. 11 attacks, Pastor Bill Hybels, of the Willow Creek Community Church, was increasingly bothered by reports of hate crimes and misinformation about Islam. "I was so concerned by the gap between Muslims and Christians that I thought Willow could do something about that," he said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

That "something" was to have his church invite a local Muslim leader, Fisal Hammouda, to talk about Islam to a total of 17,000 churchgoers, spread out over four services. "There are some Christians spreading half-truths that the Koran encourages violence," Hybels told his congregation. "(When) you take some stuff out of context ... we've got major problems."

Hammouda, a U.S. citizen, an engineer and religious leader in the Islamic Center in Naperville, first visited Willow Creek as part of the church's world religions weekend in March.

In one of his current appearances, Hammouda was questioned by Hybels, onstage in the 4,500-person auditorium. Hybels asked, "It appears that Osama bin Laden directed the attack (on Sept. 11) ... What do you think?" Hammouda said at first he thought "it couldn't be a Muslim," explaining that the Koran does not allow violence against innocent people ... "We believe in Jesus, more than you do, in fact," Hammouda said, drawing laughter when Hybels, smiling, ventured to disagree.

"Muslims consider Jesus and other biblical figures to be Islamic prophets -- though not as important as Muhammad -- and we have all the prophets from the Bible," Hammouda said.

Bill Hybels is the one who brought in Bill Clinton to a men's conference last year, to teach his male congregants how to be more Godly men.

I think some churches do more harm than good.

"11th Earl of Mar" - Great Genesis song.

Yep, when you are so inclusive that Satan is welcome, why bother meeting in a church when "real life" will suffice?

"I didn't know they believed in Jesus," church member Elizabeth Perez, 60, of Zion said after the service. "I thought it was interesting how much we have in common."

Typical of mush headedness that defines too much of contemporary "christianity."

I guarandamtee you they do not believe in Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Holy Trinity. They "believe" in a Jesus of their own invention.

This is deception, pure and simple.

Wasn't Hybels the one in the Ron Brown funeral video that was laughing with Clinton?

Clinton then saw the camera and instantly went to tears.

Hybels never saw the camera and continued to laugh.

Rush showed it about 1000 times but you never saw it on the major outlets.

You'd think people that support Hybels and his ministry would wake up to this fraud. What a travesty.

No that was Tony Campolo.

Not much difference between Hybels and Campolo, both were Clinton's "spiritual counselors." Camplo was once asked the question if Jesus was the only Way to God the Father. He answered, "Yes. But Christianity is not the only way to Jesus."

Go figure.

Members of this so-called "church" might just as well stay home and wash their cars. It'd do them as much good....

Two things:

Islam calls for the death of any Muslim who turns from Islam, period.

Islam does not know all the prophets in the Bible. Examples: Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel to name a few. These are major, writing prophets which Muslims know nothing about.

I've been to Willow Creek. I think they may have a car wash. ;-) (tongue planted firmly in cheek). They DO have a food court.

Personally, I most go for "Nursery Cryme" through "Duke".

First time I saw your screen name, I was kinda jealous I didn't think of it first!

I better get off this Genesis stuff or some self-appointed moderator will flame me. (:

Willow Creek, from what I hear, mainly shuns traditional sermons for sitcom style skits. It has plush, auditorium style seats instead of pews. Not at all your typical church.

Everyone that I know can read, and in fact, I do not know a single person that cannot read. So we all have the ability to read the Quran, and we know what it says, and we need no one to tell us. The God of the bible is not the allah of the Quran, for the God of the bible hates sin and he always has, and wrote the 10 commandments with his own finger on tablets of stone, and he changes not.

Allah, on the other hand declares that men can fornicate in heaven forever with a whole gang of women, 72 or more. They declare that Jesus never did die, but will return to earth and follow Muhammed, and then die after 40 years. God is not mocked, and whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Islam makes a mockery of Jesus death on the tree, and the shedding of his blood..I know what Islam teaches and I need no one to tell me. If God be God, then follow him, and if allah be god, then follow him.
