I tend to agree. Turks are not only badassed fighters, but decent peacekeepers.
They produced the major Islamic stateman in the last century who, so far, has produced the only long-term sucessful model from the Muslim world of how to turn a dictatorship into a civilized nation.

You got that right!!I've mentioned Ataturk and the Kemalists many times on FR-the Islmic extremists have no worse enemies.And having the Turks as enemies is not conducive to long-term survival.

I don't think that Ataturk would like to be thought of as an "Islamic" statesman, as he was trying to establish a "Turkish" state. But he was a helluva guy.

The Turks are also VERY interested in having a SECULAR government next door in Afghanistan.
