Screen Actors Guild to Elect President (Republican Melissa Gilbert could be chosen)

Republican Melissa Gilbert, wife of conservative actor Bruce Boxleitner, will know the first week of November if she has bested Valerie Harper (and two others) for the position of SAG President.

98,577 Members to Vote for Positions of
President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer

LOS ANGELES --- The Screen Actors Guild has mailed ballots to 98,577 members nationwide eligible to vote for the Guild’s three top national officers, SAG President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer.

"Ballots were delivered to the United States Post Office today and should be in the hands of all our members by the middle of next week. Members have until October 31 to return their ballot and indicate their choices for the three positions of SAG President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer," said Clinta Dayton, SAG National Director for Guild Governance.

The Guild also posted a notice on their website (www.sag.org) today advising members to be on the lookout for their ballot in the mail.

Running for the position of SAG President are Angeltompkins, Eugene Boggs, Melissa Gilbert and Valerie Harper.

Running for the position of SAG Recording Secretary are Renee Aubry, Elliott Gould and Kevin Kilner.

Running for the position of SAG Treasurer are Amy Aquino, Kathleen Haigney and Kent McCord.

Results from the national election will be announced during the first week in November.

It would be nice if Gilbert were chosen - but... there is about zero chance she will be, knowing how liberal that group is. Boggs will probably get it, but I would not be surprised at all if Harper is a close runner up.

Of course, there is always a chance for the unexpected, and strange things can indeed happen in hollyweird.. I've worked there over 20 years, in all the stars homes and dressing rooms... really. *bg*
