To be honest I believe the original national bird was supposed to be a phoenix. The old drawings certainly appear that way.

They may as well have posted a picture of a buzzard.

I like the window dressing eagle but the real motive for this website is oh so global ain't it? AIN'T IT! Shhhhhh. We better not inform WE the People that our Republican Party has gone GLOBAL GOVERNANCE now, can we! I'd like to see a show of hands here, right here on Free Republic, of those who sanction global governance and the end to national sovereignty. If you dare, that is.

agreed...wrong eagle and the phrase will be perverted to "America will have her way" . While i like the sound of that, I don't think it's the message of the day....

With a little bit of work, which I'd be happy to
donate, this eagle should fill the bill.
This is a photo I took at the Smithsonian.
The original is much darker and about five
times larger.
