"who do we nuke? "

The same people we are bombing now and plan to bomb. Tactical nukes would maximize damage in that area. No one walks out. I don't think that Bush would let them get away with spreading bio/chem agents in this country. We will see how this all works out.

There was a thread earlier from a website in Brazil about 10 kg. of Anthrax being distributed throughout LA. Does anybody know if this was reported by the poster?

There is supposedly a military doctrine that says that US policy is to return any WMD attack with nuclear weapons.

However, that might offend the enemy, so we will most likely refrain from any such endeavors. Remember, right now we're engaged in hand-wringing about having to deal with things before ramadan starts. Can't go offending the enemy, nope nope nope.

SO this isnt Breaking News? I see it got pulled from the right side. Can it only be "breaking" when its posted on a mainstream liberal site?

Still, we must remain calm and continue to search for multiple confirmations (this is simply too serious to leave with any percentage of error).

I'm monitoring AP Breaking News and AP Florida News at Tampa Bay Online...

Can somebody pick up Reuters (JohnHuang2, ya there?) and the other wire services.

LarryLied, can you keep an eye on the local station's site?

"Well look, there's always the possibility there's a dead rat or something in the building, hmmm?"

There may be more than one dead rat at the National Enquirer hangout, but anthrax is a lot different from that sort of thing.

"I dont get all these "nuke" posts....who do we nuke? the guy who possible planted the anthrax? wouldnt a bullet work just as good?"

It's a little hard to shoot entire continents with .223 rounds. Should it turn out that America's very survival is mortally and immediately threatened by foreignors, then one possible defensive posture is to wipe out all life on all other continents, with very few exceptions made. It's not out of the question, and it is certainly technically doable with our own arsenals of nuclear devices, chemical weapons, and biological munitions.

Make no mistake, a biological attack on the U.S. would be a VERY serious development.

Does anyone live by this office/plant?
How big is the building??
Any idea on how many employees they have?
Is the printing presses there also?
Why on earth would they hit the National Enquirer/The Sun?

Just heard here in Phoenix, KFYI 550 AM, during an update on the bombing, that a "second case of anthrax is being investigated." Heard it coming into the room but didn't hear the entire blurb. There will probably be more during the news at the bottom of the hour. Will be listening.

Compared to what the real target is, I'm sure it's not. Again, I don't think the terrorists moved into digs a few miles from the National Enquirer offices so they could use that for their piece de resistance. The offices just happened to be nearby. The real target is somewhere else.

BTW, what's their website? They would print this.

Their building is quarantined. I doubt they're able to update their site right now.

There has been concern because anthrax has been developed by some countries as a possible biological weapon, though U.S. officials have said there was no evidence Stevens is the victim of terrorism. The disease -- which is not contagious -- can be contracted naturally, often from livestock or soil, and Stevens did visit North Carolina last week.

From a previous article.

It's NOT contagious, so it didn't get into the building from the dead man. The only way it could get into the building is if someone placed it there!

Maybe there is a plausible, non-terrorist explanation for all this. Maybe someone was out hunting cows in North Carolina, and brought an infected kill back to his cubicle to skin. Yeah, that's the ticket. It's just another "isolated incident"...

"10 kg. of Anthrax being distributed throughout LA"

Well, there goes the Emmy Awards along with the actors and actresses. Many well-knowns have their home address in LA.

I agree, he wont let them get away with this...however, we can and will do it without nukes. I for one dont want to see "nukes" thrown around lightly...and as bad as this situation was/is....in the grand scheme of things....its not worthy of nukes. We can save that for a Chinese invasion of Asia, Russian expansion...etc.
