Fox is reporting that Daschel and gang are going to meet in private this after noon. I am sure they don't want us to hear that they have reservations about giving Bush too much power and they don't want us to hear the arguments that will ensue blaming the Democrats and 8 years of Clinton as the cause of our lax security with the lives of 30,000 on their hands.

I don't understand. If the Senate is meeting as a body, they can't meet in secret unless they would be meeting to hear classified data. Do you mean the Democratic Senators are meeting in secret? If they do (Dems meeting only), they may be making a huge mistake from a political perspective. If they are seen as being critical of the way this has been handled by GW, I believe that public will throw that back in their face, so to speak. Perhaps *they* will be announcing they want a massive and overwhelming response. Don't know, but look for them to try and take the political "lead" on this tragedy...
